In the end, Grimmjow gets overpowered by a partially Hollowfied Ichigo. Then, remember the grand attack on Karakura Town? The Espada were supposed to create the Oken, but instead, they got stopped by the lower-tier captains. I mean, heavyweights like Byakuya, Kenpachi, and Unohana? They weren't even there—they were handling business in Hueco Mundo! Now, Stark, the No. 1 Espada, finally shows up, but instead of a fierce showdown, we get Shunsui casually sparring with him. It’s wild! Shunsui didn’t even take it seriously at first. And in the end, Stark was outsmarted by Shunsui's strategy, not raw power. Compare that to the Quincy Sternritter. They were brutal, wiping out entire Gotei 13 divisions in seconds. That’s a real threat! The funniest part? Yami, the 10th Espada, might have a bigger body count than some of the top Espada just from eating souls back in Karakura Town. So, were the Espada strong? Definitely. But effective? Not really! What do you think?

This is my biggest problem with the espada. Kubo didnt allow them to have any major acomplishment. Not even killing any captain.
But i still like them 👍

Arrancars had little info on them, when sternritters knew almost everything about them

1) If Espadas attacked the soul society they would give very high damage.Like a few lanza del relampago and cero mattrellaro and eespira and Yammy's ceros would couse high damage
2) Gotei was prepeared for them not for sternritters

There’s more to these characters than how much damage they deal and how many people they kill. They still influence the heroes and story in other ways bruh

...leaves out the fact that starrk was being casual about it as well. Shunsui had holes blown in him and was still smiling about it in tybw when he was forced into bankai. Saying shunsui was casual faced with starrks cero metralletta isn't something u can use to downplay starrk.
"Raw power". His games r literally his ability. He'd obvioulsy have more experience with them than anyone fighting them for the 1st time. What makes shunsuis games so strong is its unpredictability, not raw power. Even lille in base form, who had adapted to nimayas speed, was overwhelmed by it. Lille even had info on it beforehand. Shunsuis shikai is like todos curse technique. With starrks soul damaged, he could go toe to toe with shunsui in swordplay and even figure his ability out.

It was only because the captains had to be alive to showcase Aizen’s power and abilities. Realistically the Espada would’ve killed off a good amount of Gotei 13.

People forget that shunsui has an god killing strength level combined with being very intelligent and having absolute hax abilities

Quincies on the other hand were Army.

Stark did not want anything to do with fighting at first while Shunsui is fighting more serious than Stark😂

Ulquiorra was probably the only effective espada, besides wanting to learn emotions and flopping on Ichigo

Ulquiorra got a "kill" on Ichigo, he just didnt expect White to take over :D

I think the Stark fight was kinda poorly animated, making it look more casual than it actually was. Yes, neither of them fought at 100% and had Shunsui had the chance to use his Bankai he would win, no diff.

But fighting both Ukitake and Shunsui in their shikai is nothing to scuff at either, they where definitely top tier captains behind only Yamamoto and Unohana at that time in the story (imo).

Harribel got cut down by Aizen if i remember right, but she might have lost anyway to Toshiro?

And Barragan was hard countered. He could have probably dealt with most captains 1v1. It is just hard to calculate his durability as the nuke didnt seem to work and only his own power killed him.

Yes the sternritters caused alot of trouble but in the end they didnt really kill anyone either? Only 1st division Lieutenant, rest where fodder? Maybe i remember wrong, but Yhwach killed Yamamoto and Squad 0 got revived.

Ability wise, Quincy is a group with more hax abilities. In fact most of the top tier sternritters ablities almost feel like cheat codes. And not to mention quincy were preparing for their attack on soul society for a very long time. They were able to make a fullproof plan to invade the seiritei and weaken the soul reapers by stealing their bankai. The Quincy have shown much better battle IQ than the Espada.
