Women Will Have to Register for US Military Draft

The Senate has approved a defense budget that would also require women to register for the draft. The new rules would apply to any woman who turns 18 on or after January 1, 2018. The key opponents to drafting women were conservative Republicans

YES! Women should experience the same fear I grew up with being the son if a Vietnam-era veteran. Ever since I was told, as a boy, that I could someday be drafted to fight in a war, even if I don't agree with it...I've dreaded that ever happening, until I was older and understood it better. But now women can share in the same responsibility. Equality is equality. No good reason not to have women sign up.

If women want equality they have to accept ALL of it, the good and the bad. Women should be able to serve in any part of the military and thus they should also have to be subject to the draft.

Although I completely agree with this, it's terrifying to me that my little sister, who I've been protecting since I can remember, will on that draft list. Despite this, however, I still believe that this is right. If we want to fight in the military, we need to accept the responsibility that comes with it.

As a feminist I think it is 100% fair and should be an obvious yes to most people. As nervous as the idea and talk about a draft makes me and as much as much as I wouldn't want my nieces fighting in a war, if I had nephews I wouldn't want them fighting either. I don't understand why all eligible women wouldn't be subject to the draft. I don't think it is fair for my nieces and potential nephews to be required to sign up but not myself.

I don't have to sign up for combat orientated situations since I had heart problem speculation a while ago. Though they said I probably don't have it, its possible. But because of that, I always flunk my physical, and you know what happens when you flunk your physical, you can't get drafted.

Why not? in many european countries there were woman helping the resistance.
Fighting for they lives, for their families, friends, their village.
Many of them were in the front line, in ambush and sabotage.
Sometimes holding a rifle, sometimes a purse.
