Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2, more commonly known as KLIA2, is the budget airline terminal at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

The construction of KLIA2 began in 2009 as a response to the rapid growth of low-cost travel in the region and to replace the former low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT). It was designed to accommodate up to 45 million passengers a year.

KLIA2 officially opened on May 2, 2014, replacing the former LCCT. The terminal is the world's largest purpose-built terminal dedicated to low-cost carriers and it is designed to cater for 5 million passengers a year.

The KLIA2 terminal is part of the KLIA airport system and is connected to the main KLIA terminal via the KLIA Ekspres high-speed train service. It is home to many budget airlines, including AirAsia, and serves as a hub for low-cost travel in Southeast Asia.

The terminal itself is notable for its size and amenities. Despite being a budget terminal, KLIA2 has a variety of retail and dining options, including a shopping mall, making it a unique travel hub in the region. The terminal also features a variety of facilities to enhance passenger comfort, including a variety of lounges, a transit hotel, and even a movie lounge.

Just to let you know, there are 2 terminals in KL international airport. Terminal 1 is international full service airlines. Terminal 2 is budget terminal which is basically AirAsia terminal that's why you all airlines there are AirAsia. The Global AirAsia hub is in terminal 2 KLIA.

Just fyi, klia terminal 2 or previously Known as klia2 was supposed to be a low cost hub for air Asia as main anchor . When the gov planned to build this, it had to take in airasia requirements . But if i remmebr they wanted the hub to be very barebones . No air bridge no automatic baggage system. But upon knowing this, the general public were angry . They didnt Like what Airasia wanted . Thats why there was a cost overrun and delay . But despite that, i think it serves its purpose . The tax is also among the lowest to fly out From. If i want to visit Bangkok or any Asean cities flights From KL are always cheaper than flights to KL.
Another thing is its relatively quieter and less crowded than other airports . Maybe because it has two terminals the klia 1 and klia2. And also klia2 is very big the crowd is dispersed via the many levels of the airports 😂

I assume the food court is before immigration, so not much use to passengers in transit.
A shame really.
People who depart would have eaten in the city.
People who arrive would have left for KL to get their food.
