2020 Ford Escape Review - More Power Than a Porsche Macan

So I have the 2.0L SEL AWD and I must say it is my favorite vehicle I've ever owned. I had a '05 and '17 Mustang GT, and a '19 Fusion Hybrid Titanium. Granted the Fusion had some things the SEL doesn't have (like cooled seats), I find the overall practically and sporty feeling of the Escape is easily the reason i prefer it over any car I've driven. The car does everything I need it to do and more. I've compared it to the base Porsche Macan, and the numbers are very very comparable! The numbers are slightly less than the Macan but it is also lighter than the Porsche. The car is plenty punchy and fun in the sport setting. Plus, the car is actually more practical than the Macan. It has more cargo space, more base safety features, better turning circle (with shorter wheel base), and similar towing capacity. Obviously the drive experience and quality of Porsche isn't beatable. OBVIOUSLY. But for your daily and for a small SUV and for half the price, this car is incredibly good. Strongly recommend. But I wouldn't get anything short of the 2.0L SEL AWD. Having all wheel drive ability is a must I feel in any SUV.

I bought a holdover 2020 Escape S AWD--MSRP at USD$28k--for USD$20K. It was built in November 2020, and I purchased it in May 2021. Came with Ford 360, including lane keep assist, etc.
It's been a great vehicle, so far; I plan to replace the Continental tires with the Falken All-Terrain tires found on the Bronco Sport; I will have to do some wooded trail driving, and those tires--paired with the AWD--will be a better choice, even if I have to deal with a little more road noise.

The fact that the turbo doesn't kick in until 3, 000 rpm is actually a good thing, from a fuel economy perspective, for most around-town, daily driving.

The Rav4 is significantly more expensive versus options especially when factoring in COVID era incentives from Ford and the mostly missing ones from Toyota.

If you want the best Escape, get the hybrid. You're welcome. And this guy obviously didn't do his research. Ford CoPilot 360 includes all the safety features that many other brands make you pay extra for... blind spot monitoring, forward collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control with auto-braking, lane keeping assist. The only things CoPilot 360 don't include are the lane tracing on the cruise control and front/rear parking sensors/cross traffic alert. You can option CoPilot 360+ for those.

Dethrone the CX-5 for looks? Not a chance. The side profile of the Escape looks better, (CX-5 has an odd bobtailed look) but thats it. In every other way (especially interior) the CX-5 wins hands down.
