Depends on what best means for fun i’d say 5.0, but for longevity and the best for beating on 4.6 2v I’ve seen a few Crown Vic’s hit 300k+ and not skip a beat. The 4.6 4v was so exotic at the time. I love the fact that the SN95 is finally getting some love.

I can’t seem to part w my 95 gt . I ended up painting it and doing some small stuff over the summer and now I’m starting to see it’s potential. It’s super clean for a95. And it has 204k mikes. Thanks for video big bro!

Back in '98, I built a 347 and it's still going today. In '03, I built a 3.8 for a '98 and put a supercharger on it. It's still going, and it's a daily driver. My other 2 '98's have the 3.8, 100% stock, and both still run with no issues. My '07 Gt has the 4.6, but I've had issues with the lash adjusters(lifters) going out often. In the past 10yrs, I've had several 3v 5.4 engines in various vehicles and feel those are some of the best engines despite all the bad advertising out there. The 3v with a simple timing set and oil changes keeps it going. It's more of a lack of maintenance for everyone who has issues with the 3v.
Of course, the only thing I've done to my 347 and 3.8 is regular oil changes. Here in Okla, I can't find any v8 engines in the salvage yards that are good anymore, and if they have them, they want an arm and leg.
My son and my brother both have coyote engines in their F150's. They run strong but seem to use oil with higher mileage just like the 2 and 3v does.
With me being a mechanic, I work on any and all manufacturers vehicles, and equipment. You name it, I've prob did it. Over the years, we've driven lots of vehicles and family seemed to buy all other brands just because I've went mainly all Ford. But the last few years, everyone in our family is now driving Fords. I'm talking brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, you name it, they all have Fords and occasional additional others. I've asked them why, and they say over the yrs they've had the least issues, been more reliable, and less cost driving them. Some say they now know why I drive Fords. Believe me, I use to drive a short wide chevy as my daily, and still have my s10, along with dozens of other domestic and import brands. But as far as reliability, cost, and looks, all my dailies are Fords.
I'm currently installing a 351w/408 in an '86 F150 4wd. It's been 3yrs in the making. $14k in the long block only. Fi and all the goodies. Hopefully, it'll live a long time, keeping my fingers crossed, lol.

4.6 4 Life. The 4.6 Teksid block will hold 2k hp with the right internals. More than a sleeved Coyote.

Yo what's up bro! Love the content, keep up wonderful information. I have a 95 gt " pushrod" that I'm gonna start building after I finish my 98 gt. I did know the aviator had the revised 4v. I'm not sure the exact year's but around the 04 ish aviator had 4v, and around the same years the explorer had the 2v 4.6 too..

i got an aviator engine in my gt. looked for a 01 intake and got mine going... I would suggest getting a head cooling kit prior to installing the engine i would love to add a supercharger, however getting the lower intake for those is an issue

Currently have a mark viii daily driver thats stock and a parts mark viii whose motor im gonna rip apart and put some forged internals into so i can build a mean street car. Shooting for 700 whp and im debating going C head swap with top mount supercharger or keeping the B heads and centrifugal or turbo for boost. Honestly couldnt agree more about the availability tho, if i didn't have a second mark with a good platform to build off of i was just gonna do a coyote swap because a 4v probably wouldnt be as easy to find and build compared to the yote

04 Cobra Owner, if the 4V motor is hard to obtain, then one should not get one, simply put, honestly there is nothing close to the 03/04 Cobra motor, yeah the coyote motor is gd, but there just different overall, those motors like to rev out high, the 03/04 Cobra is like a big block motor for its time. I drive my car often does not sit in a garage collecting dust that I can tell you, as far as the aviator motor, there gd, but people are sleep on them, what is so crazy tho, I still kill Hellcats and other cars, just so cool to see a 20 year old car killing new cars hard to explain, love the thumbs up I get all the time, I love my s550 as well, but I drive my Cobra more, I have a ecoboost that is a sleeper, its fords grand national, the fastest ecoboost did a 9.4 trap 145, see for urself bill putnam ecoboost here on youtube.

My son and I are looking at doing this and I have a line on a mark 8 motor I can get for 200 bucks. The issue we have is we do not have a v8 donor car.

Not sure how to do this without the hardness and donor car.

I also have a line on a grand marquis I could have for the same price.

Would love to know what you think.

His car is a v6 car.

Looking to buy sn95 mustang. I’m curious as to which engine is more reliable, the 5.0 2v or the 4.6 2v which replaced it. Not too concerned with building it for power (yet) just something dependable and strong running. Are parts cheaper for the 4.6 due to its widespread availability and long production line? Looking at forums I’m seeing a lot of different information. Thanks
