This was something I was really scared about starting dance, especially as an adult. But once I danced at my school for a while and got closer to my classmates, it became much more of a comforting space. If we see each other struggling or succeeding, we cheer them on either way. Being supportive of each other is just so great, and I feel very needed in the dancing space.

my dance level has a handshake we always do before performances and we always stand backstage together in a group hug after the show… even when people leave, we keep doing this and have done it for years ❤

And then there is me who hugs and congratulates everyone and only gets a "good job" after I am done with a variation that I am very proud of. Then there is the moments when I show my ballet friends a variation I want to ask for and they say "you are too young for this" even though my teacher says that I can do it on pointé first try, but when my friends show me a varation they want I say "Yea of course go ask right now before anyone takes it" it's so sad and the only supporters I have are my younger sister, one of my ballet friends, my teacher and her husband, and obv my parents
