Recorded in 1928. Stanley Kirkby was a British music hall singer at the beginning of the twentieth century. He was particularly well-known for a series of songs he sang during the First World War, such as "Boys of the Dardanelles", a patriotic song, "Tell my Daddy to come home again", a sentimental treatment of how hard it was for children to be parted from their soldier fathers, and in 1910 he covered "The Galloping Major" - the original version of which had been performed by George Henry Bastow in 1906.
But he also had success singing love songs, such as "When you know you're not forgotten by the girl you can't forget".
He recorded "Irish and proud of it too" in 1915.

@RaymondTVinyl Thank you Raymond! It's amazing how many songs have been remade over the years that are a lot older than you might think. Glad you enjoyed it. :-)

@sideshowtink Yes, it's another in a long line of songs that Elvis made popular again during his career. I'm glad you like this version. :-)

Wow! It seems weird to hear this done by anyone other than Elvis.

@philotimos923 Elvis did a lot of covers though like this, such as Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes, and Lawdy Miss Clawdy to name a few. :-)

How on earth did you connect the gramophone to the computer?

It sounds like in those days people sing with a Spanish accent? The letter "R" is well emphasized

Written and performed before Elvis was even born.

Maybe he wasn't as 'original' as everyone thinks!
