SMOUT --> BEANS --> BASIC --> BARKS --> BALSA So dumb of me to use Barks when I already eliminated the S in that position. Not as numpty as today when I had the last three letters and completely blanked on the obvious word and barely got it! Thanks for sharing these. Got me into this and it's a lot of fun!

After guess two, I reasoned the S had to be fourth, but figuring out what came after it took me a while. I finally decided it must be a repeated A, and BALSA seemed a good possibility.

lol, I said the same thing, "balsa? like the wood?" I thought it must be a proper name, but I guess not.

Just made it, whew. I think SALSA may have been a previous answer so I should have gone with BALSA first. As a kid they used to sell cheaply priced toy balsa wood gliders or airplanes so was very familiar with the word.

Can someone explain Mark's pronunciation of SAUTE? I only know that word as "saw-TAY, " the cooking term.

Bit of an odd one. I was left with the S going 4th or 5th and I couldn't see it ending in one since there's no plurals.
