I think trail riding doesn’t get the respect it deserves. So many folks think it’s just hanging on and wandering around. A good trail horse has to have emotional regulation and some technical skills. So do some trail riders- I think sometimes people take too many risks before they have enough experience. (Not all, some trail riders can do circles around competition riders.) Y’all stay safe out there.

On my last trail ride we came across a carriage. My 4.5 year old gelding has never seen one in his life before.
He literally spinned around the moment he saw it and began fast trotting the other direction with me on his back. No going faster, no bucking, he just wanted to get us both away from the terrifying carriage and the two huge black horses pulling it 😂
I talked to him and patted his neck in an attempt to calm him and it worked! He eventually slowed down and came to a halt. I slid off his back and walked him back. My mom was heading our way with the pony she had been leading. The pony was calling my horse. He was very unsure about the carriage but we made it past.
He had a pad and riding halter on him. I'm just really glad I managed to calm him down. My mom's horse (not the pony) for sure would've just galopped away, bucked me off and ended up who knows where 😂

Trail riding is the absolute best! It’s my favorite pastime, and I will go every single chance I get. Always wear a helmet no matter what type of riding you do!

Yep! On the lazy sweet qh named Paddington, it’s a lovely little walk in the woods. On the demon/dragon 12.1hh pony it’s a thrill ride 😂
