Gettysburg: LOUD Frogs at Plum Run!

Показать описание
It's SO crazy how these frogs are everywhere, and yet, you never see them. i'm serious, i heard some LOUD ones within a few feet of me, stooped down to water level, and still couldn't spot a single one!
Again, just beware the ticks - but DON'T let that stop you from enjoying nature, here or anywhere else. They're no worse here than any other given expanse of grassy plains and woods. Like i said, just perform routine checks, so if you happen to pick one up, it can easily be dislodged before it's really started to burrow. If i had a dollar for every tick i've picked off my skin in the past few years, it would pay for a dinner and then some, and that's no exaggeration. i understand some folks are germaphobic and fear tick-borne diseases. Except in a few extreme areas, your chances of this are so low, it is NOT worth the worry. The couple exceptions i can think of are in the central states between Texas and Colorado (Lone Star disease) and perhaps around Plum Island, between Long Island, NY and Connecticut. Btw, the latter example is directly related to biowarfare experiments. Even in these places, confirmed cases are rare, and i'd still enjoy myself in natural environments, i'd just be a bit more careful.
