They need to go back to ball-to-hand no penalty, hand-to-ball penalty. For 30 years in our football if a player blasted a ball at another's hand from less than say 3 yards. It was rightfully never a pen, and no fair-thinking fan thought it was.

The handball rule was clearer in 1993 than it is in 2023. Stop mucking about with it and go back to how it was

If a handball (intentional or not) literally prevents a goal then it has to be a penalty. For me, Romeros handball looked like it blocked a definite goal so i think its fair to say that its a penalty. But there have been similar ones this season that havent been given. i think we can all agree that the biggest problem with VAR is the inconsistencies.

hmm tbh tI hink its a handball. It's going in and his arm is up. The Eriksen one vs Bayern was harsh though imo should be an indirect FK. Basically if it's stopping a goalbound shot or chance then it's a pen if it's not then it's a indirect fk.

How that Anthony Gordon assist was given but the one Rashford scored last season where that ball bounced up onto his arm was disallowed don’t make sense. I remember like 3 years ago, a city player went up for a header and it hit his arm down by his side and fell into the path of G. Jesus who scored. They scratched off the goal because “if there is any contact of an arm, during the buildup of a goal, the goal will be disallowed” This handball rule isn’t set because it has changed again.

Yep, no slowing down, and only allowed to watch 3 times at real speed, then make a decision!

Gusto's red card was frustrating... Gusto flies to the ball at full speed, plays the ball and Digne (who had no chance to get to the ball) plants his leg and gets clattered...

Digne was basically late to the ball and is clattered, rather than Gusto being late to the ball and clattering Digne...

That freeze frame of the moment Gusto and Digne make contact is like taking a freeze frame or any moment - there is no context.

I made that point a few weeks ago, use the semi automated offside because then everyone is on the same level. When you rely on human intervention you have issues like using the wrong frames, deciding where to draw the lines etc and the conflicting decisions from one week to the next, just let the technology do it, at that will help right 1 of the wrongs with VAR

players are literally kicking the ball at arms and hands now.

If a goal is disallowed because it accidentally hits the goalscorer's hand then a penalty should be given if it accidentally hits a defenders hand when it is going in the net.

Balance.

The semi automatic offside was rejected by the premier league so they can continue to fix games

Let me help Ange. The ball is going in the back of the net, the ball is stopped from becoming a goal because it hits a hand. It's a penalty. Does that make sense?

He literally stopped the ball going in the goal… 😂

It doesn't matter what the rule is, it has to be a handball if your hand stops a certain goal when you are only six yards out.

As a kid playing in the streets we got handball better than premier league refs, if its ball to hand its not handball and if its hand to ball it is, its that simple

Gusto was a red, Romero was a pen and should have been a red too cause that ball was going into the net, Nketiah was a red. So they got 1 1/2 out of 3 correct imo.

That was a handball. Period lol i don't care about either team. If not for his hand being there the ball goes in the net

Before VAR there were times when decisions made people furious. After VAR there are more decisions that make people furious. It hasn't improved anything, and now the celebration of a goal has to be held back in case it is disallowed. If you can't decide something in the first 3 watches of a replay then leave it alone.

Refs are so obviously bent, there’s no way you can deliberately be this awful. Should have been a red to Nketiah as well

If that's not a stonewall penalty then I don't know what is anymore! He's literally stopped the ball going in the net not far from the line! You honestly think ange would be saying that's not a penalty if it was the other way around!

Stockley park should just be editors and not refs. The onfield ref communicates with them and when a big decision occurs the ref decides he wants a replay. The editors provides different angles of the incident and the ref can make his decision! No influencing the ref he just gets to see the incident again rather than refs in Stockley Park (who have no idea about the emotion and passion at that moment) feeding information to the onfield ref whilst he’s also trying to communicate and calm players! Also just so you know I’m completely against VAR but I acknowledge it ain’t going anywhere!
