I know many of you already use topaz. But this is my first time, and I must say that this is pure magic. This tool here is so awesome for us bird and wildlife photographer, dealing with low-light situations.
I am taking the grey heron picture into lightroom to show some editing and then into topaz denoise. Hopefully this is helpful to some of you.

I came across another wildlife photographer on youtube using this about a week ago and thought I'd give Topaz Denoise a try. Absolutely love it! It's an amazing product and Topaz has some great things going on. Let's hope Adobe doesn't ruin it.

Trond, here's a LR tip you'll enjoy. In the "Detail" panel, hold ALT while increasing "Masking" until the background goes mostly black. Masking effectively blocks sharpening from being applied to areas that lack detail. It's great for sky, water, out-of-focus backgrounds. If it's to your liking, this also allows you to push the sharpening a bit more because only areas with good detail will be treated. But that's just if it's to your liking. Be well.

Topaz adds all these artefacts to fine feather detail. It clumps pixels together into homogeneous rows, effectively reducing the resolution of my high megapixel camera. Theres just so much of these zippering and staircase artefacts. It works brilliantly for smooth out of focus backgrounds but I have to mask out its effects on the bird itself. It's very noticeable how the reviewers don't zoom right in on the image. I've tried to love it but it just ruins the experience of examining the details a modern high megapixel camera can record. Some types of subjects don't suffer as badly but fine feather detail is just about the worst affected. So for me it's only useful for cleaning g up soft backgrounds where the A I algorithm doesn't have to work as hard.

Topaz DeNoise and Topaz AI sharpen are both great bits of software and as you say Trond work like magic. When you are forced to shoot in low light they are a life saver. Cheers Keith

Crazy! I keep getting people on my channel asking me about if I like Topaz or not and I just have never put myself to do it yet, but definitely need to after seeing results like this haha.

I tried Topaz Denoise but I prefered the noise reduction in DXO Photolab 4. But it does not hurt to have both!

De Noise is great for sure Trond, I find the low light section seems to do a good job on most Photos. Like you, I would like to be able to master Photoshop, but I better figure out how to use Lightroom properly first. It's all new to me in the last year, just trying to learn what ever I can as I go. 👍🏻

Sharpen in lightroom sharpen in topaz sharpen in photoshop. Dont you think its overkill all that sharpening? And why sharpen in 3 different programs??

I love Topaz.
You should have try a more difficult file.
Some of my shots were ISO 25000, and Topaz performed miracles!
I shot an owl coming out of a nest in some dark woods. Individual hairs were visible I couldn't even see in the raw file, but Topaz brought them out.

Really enjoyed this video, thank you. To be honest I have seen in many instances people using Topaz De noise and the noise reduction is definitely removing very fine detail which for me is an issue on birds or mammals with fur, or any ultra fine detail!
