No country is perfect. There are dark side and good side. It depends on where you choose to go. So we can’t judge the whole country based on one street or one city.

I feel way safer in the Philippines than here in Canada based off of my personal experiences I had gained in the past 2years ago after work from 2pm-10pm here in Winnipeg.

Pattaya is great, leave the old guys alone and let them have their fun. You’ll get there soon enough.

Manila... Yea. I don't know where you are from....BUT. Stay There. I'm a Ex Pat from America. Been here In the Philippines for 9 years. I visit Manila every 2 months to renew my Visa. I have never felt "unsafe". I now live on a farm in Mendenao.I love it here.

Plan according to your taste and understand that things are not going to be like home, the Philippines is not only in it's breathtaking Landscapes, but in the warthm, hospitaLity, and resiliency of it's people, may GodbLess the Philippines 🙏🇵🇭

What do you expect when you go to the red light district. There is a lot more to Pattaya, if all you saw was girls and bars it says more about you then the city. Every major city, KL, Singapore, HK, Philippines you will find the same if that's what your looking for.

Are you sure you can finish seeing the whole of Singapore within a few hours? You can easily spend 2 -3 hours just walking through Botanical gardens.

I prefer well armed security than none at all.
If you are bad guys you will not like them. 😂

Speaking from experience, I feel quite safe in Manila, more so walking around some australian cities, but that’s only my opinion/ experience.

One of the best think I love about Manila or anywhere in the Philippines are the armed guards, I know that I will be safe. Nobody would dare to go in the mall and steal like they do here in California.

I'm curious where in Manila you stayed

It's okay, my fellow SEA peeps. To each their own. Let him be.

One thing we must learn from this page is how huge the difference between a traveller and a tourist: A traveller goes to places and learn the pros and cons of where they have been. From there they understand, appreciate, and accept the beauty and the chaos--and not judge but grow as a beautiful, kind human because of their experiences. And then there is a tourist who only appreciates comfort and the superficial.

Common, Manila can't really be that bad, can it???
My friend went there with his two brothers a couple of months ago and they had no worries. The armed security is most likely a relic from more dangerous times.

In the Philippines, Security guards are visible in the malls and bldgs to secure the place from unscrupulous people .. they’re there to protect you from any untoward incidents and not to frighten you though some have guns and some just have batuta .. They are there to assist and direct you if you’re lost They’re very nice and kind to people .
