Repotting my Lucky bamboo plants into soil & upgrading them to a larger pot 🌱

Today we're going to repot my lucky bamboo plants into soil. I thought they were growing in water, so I've been treating them that way. Come to find out, they were planted in soil this whole time lol. You just never know what you're going to find when you bring new plants home from the store... This why I like to repot my plants almost immediately after taking them home.

We're going to upgrade their pot size and freshen up the potting soil (I use Miracle grow potting soil and succulent soil mixed together for a lot of my plants. It seems to give me good drainage and it helps to keep those pesky gnats away too)

I keep my bamboo growing in bright, but indirect light and I water whenever the soil dries out almost completelytothebottom. My bamboo growing in water, I have to change out once to twice a week, sometimes three, depending on the type of climate going on. If you have hot and humid climate like me, you might have to change the water more often.

I killed a bamboo once. Yours are really healthy. It looks so much happier in the terra cotta pot. Thanks for the video.

Great video, I actually killed my bamboo. The stems just kept rotting one by one and but i was able to salvage a couple that I then propagated. Let’s see how they do. Will try potting as per your recommendation!

Thank you! I've had my lucky bamboo in the same pot for 7 years and I want to transfer it to another bigger pot but im scared. It lives in rocks and water and has very long tangled roots.

I have a Bamboo plant too that I bought a little over a year now lol it's still in the same container it was in since I bought it.. (elephant container) I want to repot my plant, but I'm afraid I'll kill it or something 😐 Where'd you get the pot? Is there a specific one that bamboo plants like? Love your video btw!

How often do we need to water and how? i was told to immerse the pot into bucket full of water and take it and leave it with whatever water it has got into the pot. ...I do not have a green thumb and just started gardening...so bear with my dumb question :(

Your video was so very helpful. We have had our Lucky Bamboo for years. It hasn't grown very much but I wasn't terribly worried about it. I noticed the leaves were starting to yellow. Looked it up and I was wrong when I thought they were needing more sunshine. I thought it might be a good time to see if they were also needing a bit more space inside the pot, mine have always been in soil. I popped it out as I watched you do it. I was a bit mortified to find the roots were over a foot in length. I broke the roots away from the bottom but I did use some fresh soil also. Wish me luck!

How’s it doing? I bought some at Lowe’s for $1 and potted them with soil and made a small forest!

I plan to repor mine in soil. I Love the planter that it came in because it's so cute. It's just a square white ceramic planter sitting in a black stand I really love it I just want to replant it with some different soil because I have some of them that are turning yellow all the way down the stem and I don't know why I'm thinking they probably do need more room to grow so I may have to just chuck it up and get a bigger planter. I too do not have a green thumb. I killed a succulent and those are the easiest to grow.

Thanks for the video, how are they doing after reporting and what’s ideal light condition for bamboo plants?

I had to cut one branch because it grew too high . I put it in water and it grew a little root. Should I put it only in rocks with water or add some soil? Not so sure what to do..Thanks

I have 2 bamboo plants that I bought in Feb of 2022. So we had bought a new larger pot, because I thought it was ready to repot, but from your video, it looks like I can wait at least a yr or so to transfer to the new pot?

Thanks for sharing ✌️ I didn't think there was soil just rock's, 🤣 you should see my plant, it's huge!!! There's about five bamboo in this little vase.
I need to get this done tomorrow.
Btw what to do when some of the leaves at the tip are brown? Do I just use scissors to cut it off?

I adopted this lucky bamboo from my mother, amongst a few other indoor plants. I have never been successful with plants, so therefore am fearful of doing anything. My bamboo is very large, the bottom leaves are turning yellow. I need to replant this to a larger pot. As of now, this bamboo is twined together in a long planter, similar to the one in the video. Do I break up the individual plants, or leave them in the long line as is? Also, in your video you don't show adding any additional potting soil. Please tell me what I should put in the pot, after putting a layer of rock down first. I thank you in advance.

Yah Walmart plant Production is horrible. As soon as you buy anything "ornamental" transplant immediately because they glue rocks together for dirt and everything they do is wrong. All their bonsai all their bamboo all their suculants and cacti, anything ornamental repot immediately.
