Mannheim / Germany is a city on the Rhine and Neckar rivers. Located in in southwest Germany, Mannheim features a grid-like center, called the Quadrate and has the baroque 18th-century Mannheim Palace which houses historical exhibits

We start our Mannheim tour at the Mannheim Palace and then explore the center with the Planken shopping street. This walk leads us to southeast to the Romanesque Water Tower, in the art nouveau gardens of Friedrichsplatz.

Our tour returns to the train station of Mannheim where we end this walk.

Thanks for the memories. I grew up in the Quartraten, in F6. Checked out my neighborhood in 2016 and certainly found lots of changes and rebuilding done after the war.

I was in Mannheim some years ago and really liked the place. Like other heavily-bombed industrial cities in Germany it might not be, by European standards, the most beautiful. But still a very pleasant place to stroll around. And compared to the relentlessly hideous and chaotic cities of America that I am used to, Mannheim looks like Salzburg!

Jegendwie mag ich Mannheim viel mehr als Frankfurt.... Bin fast täglich in MA und früher habe ich auch dort gewohnt. Die Stadtmitte ist klein aber kann man schon alles finden. Nur das Problem mit den Bettlern hat sich die letzte 2-3 Jahre verschärft und manche gehen sogar von Auto zu Auto...
