Some of these extras are more interesting than the bits that made it into the programme!

Here's why the Poles were such brilliant fighters. In part it's about their cultural heritage and bravery, but there's more.
1.) The Poles were among the most highly trained aircrew in the world. Most of them were already skilled pilots in 1939. After the fall of Poland, the Poles fled to France and received further training. After the fall of France, they fled to Britain and were again retrained. In aviation, there is no substitute for time in the cockpit.
2.) RAF fighter pilots were trained to intercept bombers by opening fire at great range in tight formation, using clever deflection techniques. In reality these tactics were crap and were dismissed by the RAF as the Battle progressed. The Poles preferred the tactic they'd used in September '39. Their aircraft had been so slow and poorly-armed, the Poles had to dive and get to very close range before opening fire. These were the correct and best tactics.
3.) The Poles were fortunate in entering the Battle during the second stage of the BoB. During the first stage, RAF squadrons were being ambushed as they climbed from their bombed-out airfields. Heavy casualties were inflicted. By the time the Poles saw action, the Luftwaffe was attacking London and the RAF had the opportunity to climb to altitude unmolested.
"Repeat please"... VROOM!

303 Sqn flew out of RAF Northolt which is not far from fighter command HQ at Uxbridge and RAF Hendon. during 1942 303 sqn were equipped with several mk2 spits that were converted to mkvb, one of these was named "Fun of the fair" and was paid for by the showmans guild of London, this aircraft is credited with being the first Allied fighter to shoot down an FW 190 in combat, although not flown by Zumbach at the time, it was another well known polish pilot whose (as irony dictates) name eludes me!

My Grandmother was Polish, they're a tough lot. No messing about, just got on with it.

The Polish pilots could show how tough a plane the Hurricane was, and how tough they were to !

I spent many a time and hours over years waiting at Northolt for passengers and read the records of the Polish pilots operations from the war, based at Northolt.
Fascinating and I wonder if these records still exist at Northolt?
There was and probably still is a monument to these brave airmen, I got to know a guy whose uncle was based there and he visited the monument every week.
Brilliant pilots!

I had a book on Biggin Hill and to deny the Polish the kudos for taking down the Germans is stupid. The Poles were excellent warrior's and did not fit the narrative after WW2.

The Poles and Czech fighters were very under-rated and much maligned Highly skilled, brave and shot more enemy down per head than any other nationality. Or so i believe. They need to be showcased more. Fair play Guy and co. for doing this segment. 😊👍👍

My grandfather was a Polish merchantman during the war. Doing the Atlantic convoys. Survived being sunk twice. He said after they had won the Germans basically rounded up the whole Polish officer class, a couple of thousand men, took them into a woods and shot them all. Poland was hung out to dry by everybody, us included. The whole world just stood and watched as Germany AND Russia (Don't forget they invaded Poland too) brutalised them. I am surprised they don't hold onto more resentment about that, but it's a example of Polish strength and resolve that they don't. Cheers for the upload.
