Just found this video and I was excited! ... only to find the Bloke's gone cold! that's sad! I own a 2000 registered XJR1300 which was built in 1999 - it's a cyan colour and only covered 12, 500 miles since new as I've got all the MOTs to prove! But with a bike his age (his name's Barry by the way) you'd expect things to start going wrong by now - so I've done some running repair work on him in the past 4 years I've had him. I'm not a natural mechanic either - I'll spend a few weeks thinking about it, then reading my Haynes then prepping myself before I get round to attempting any work on it!
Anyway, it's really good to see a couple of others have left their messages who sound in my sort of boat experience wise - Del and McGreer? What are your thoughts? what jobs have you done?...

Hello Mr. Bloke In A Shed. Did you not continue with your plans to document the work on the XJR? I've also owned my 2001 for 18 years and done all the work myself but would have loved to see your videos 😔

How you getting on with the work on the XJR? I’ve got a couple of Bandits and a couple of VFR’s, looking to sell my two VFR’s and a 1250 Bandit. I’ll keep my 1200 Bandit and get an XJR as I’ve never owned a Yamaha. Hope to see how you got on buddy

Delboys garage did a whole project on the XJR - chap called springy has doen quite a bit on the the XJR as well

Hi Mr Bloke, I've also seen a lot of videos about the xjr. What I haven't seen is a video about chain rattle noises or the cause of rattle noises of this particular engine, despite it being a hot topic on multiple forums. It's been said that some noises are quite normal. What is your idea on this topic? Thanks in advance!
