I’m very happy you made this video. I was planning on getting this new R2D2, but now I’m instead looking at getting the SH Figuarts version. I like the spring 3rd leg & overall size of that now that I can see the comparison.

It looks pretty nice, but for scale and customising reasons I'm still gonna stick with the model kit droids. If your collecting anniversary series on cards then this is perfect though.

I just started collecting black series, and probably will stay with them for a while because they're pretty great for the money, but you're right about availability - annoying how the only one I can get is the dirty one that only looks good with some figures!

Hey Mike. So actually I’m getting that R2 figure very soon. My best friend actually lives near Vista and he went to one of the Targets there and he found it for me, so I can say I was fortunate. I’ve been looking forward to getting an R2 figure for quite a while. Thanks for the review 🙏🏽🙏🏽

I’ve never been happy with this Artoo figure. He’s definitely too small and his head rotation being permanently tied to the deployment of his third leg has always been a deal breaker for me. In fact I remember this guy being the pegwarmer of that first wave, well into 2014. So it’s kind of funny to see how much money he commands on the secondary market now.

That is nice weathering on the feet, but why did they not weather the inside of the feet where you pointed out the splitting? Artoo can apparently stand in mud and half his feet don't get covered lol. You can get the centre leg to look better by turning the head clockwise against the ratchet so Artoo looks to the rear before turning the head anticlockwise to deploy the centre leg, now Artoo will look forwards when the leg is deployed to a more realistic length. When you return the leg to the up position just keep turning it clockwise against the ratchet until he faces front again. Another great review though please keep them coming.

I'd never buy a Black Series R2 or 3PO. I'll always stick with the Bandai models - bigger and more detailed than BS, way cheaper than Figuarts and they have the most accessories.

Have you seen the Bandai model kit? It is pretty good. Good scale. I don’t like the swappable doors on the model. He also has some brittle parts on it for play. I want a larger Hasbro more durable option. R2 might be my favorite Star Wars character. He has so many awesome moments in the films other than the sequels. That may be why I don’t care for them as much. I can say it’s a shame Hasbro hasn’t done a extreme ultimate two pack of R2 and 3PO. I’m going to get this R2 too to go with Luke and Yoda. Next time I get to go to Galaxy’s Edge, I’m getting the droid pack. I kind of wish I had got that last time. More droids please Hasbro.
