China is mulling a 'Data Tax' for tech giants. Policy Advisors are suggesting taxing Tech companies for data collection & trading. They say 20-30% of revenues made through data transactions must be returned to the 'society'. Palki Sharma explains.

It's a good idea to some extent, there are companies out there that have no need for data collection and are doing it purely to sell on, however if they use it purely for themselves for say statistics thats something else. For instance steam gathers pc hardware data so that developers can target their software to set hardware limitations.
So i guess if they tax the sale of the data rather than the data itself that may help or give exemptions to those who ACTUALLY need it (looking at you nvidia, who require an account to fully use the video cards)
