Nicole reminds me of a naive 10 year old. She jumps into things without thinking them through. She left Egypt the first time, which is fine, when you’ve made a huge mistake a lot of times you need to cut bait and run, but why did she go right back into the same situation she ran from. Mahmoud didn’t promise her that things would be different when she came back. If she knew neither of them would bend (and she did) what did she expect would be different? I don’t know if she has some serious problems with impulsivity and judgement or if her emotional growth is stunted but something is off.

He never tricked her into that religious lifestyle. He was upfront with her from the beginning and told her how religious he is and how his future wife would have to share this believes.

She was the one who lied to both, him and herself and pretended to be okay with that kind of life. I think at her age she should have been mature enough to know beforehand whether she would be able to live that kind of life or not.

On top of that I think it’s blasphemy to convert and pretend to believe in a religion without really meaning it. Overall I think her behavior was really naive and immature.

Although I personally do not believe in Islam and would never want to live under those religious rules, I still think that he‘s the victim here. He fell for a woman who never existed in the first place. She unintentionally pretended to be someone that she is not, just to please him.

It’s hard for me to feel sad for her because she could have avoided all this. Furthermore it’s infuriating to see someone so upset by having to wear modest clothing. I’m assuming it’s the lack of self expression that’s cause her upset but you can find fashionable but modest clothing. She sews, make your own clothing. Or, just spare yourself and him by going home.
