Ένα από τα παλαιότερα έθιμα που λαμβάνει χώρα στο νησί της Θάσου είναι αυτό της Λιτανείας, από το μετόχι της μονής Φιλοθέου Αγίου Όρους στο Θεολόγο, στη μονή του Αρχαγγέλου Μιχαήλ, της εικόνας του Αρχαγγέλου Μιχαήλ με ενσωματωμένο τον Τίμιο Ήλο (καρφί) της Σταύρωσης του Χριστού, ο "Άγιος" για τους ντόπιους. Αποτελεί την ανάμνηση του Θαύματος της εύρεσης του Τιμίου Ήλου στη θέση που σήμερα βρίσκεται το μοναστήρι και της μεταφοράς του στο Μετόχι της μονής Φιλοθέου στο Θεολόγο. Μια παράδοση που χάνεται στα βάθη των αιώνων και συγκεκριμένα στα πρώτα χρόνια της Τουρκοκρατίας. Το μεσημέρι της Δεύτερης ημέρας του Πάσχα οι πιστοί που θα συνοδέψουν τον Άγιο συγκεντρώνονται στο Μετόχι, κατόπιν παραλαμβάνουν τα εξαπτέρυγα των Αγίων από τις δύο ενοριακές εκκλησίες, Αγία Παρασκευή και Άγιο Δημήτριο και όλοι μαζί με ορεινή πορεία περίπου 11 χιλιομέτρων προσεγγίζουν το μοναστήρι, όπου τους υποδέχονται οι καλόγριες με πλήθος κόσμου που συρρέει εκεί για να προσκυνήσει. Ο Άγιος διανυκτερεύει εκεί και μαζί του όποιος επιθυμεί. Την Τρίτη ημέρα του Πάσχα ημέρα εορτής του Αγίου, αναχωρεί πίσω με τον ίδιο τρόπο μετά την πανηγυρική λειτουργία.

One of the oldest customs on the island of Thasos is the Litanies, the image of Archangel Michael with the Holy Nail (nail of the Crucifixion of Christ) incorporated, the "Saint" for the locals, from the dependency of the monastery of Philotheou on Mount Athos in Theologos, to the monastery of Archangel Michael. It commemorates the Miracle of finding the Holy Nail at the site where the monastery now stands and its transportation to the Philotheou Monastery in Theologos. A tradition lost in the depths of centuries, specifically in the early years of Ottoman rule. On the afternoon of the Second Day of Easter, the faithful who will accompany the Saint gather at the dependency, then receive the banners of the Saints from the two parish churches, Agia Paraskevi and Agios Dimitrios, and all together, with a mountainous procession of about 11 kilometers, approach the monastery, where they are welcomed by the nuns and a crowd of people who gather there to worship. The Saint stays overnight there, along with whoever wishes. On the Tuesday of Easter, the feast day of the Saint, he departs back in the same manner after the celebratory liturgy.
