RIP Layne. I'm a survivor of heroin addiction. I have 2 years 3 months clean. Thank God

Them bones was my alarm sound for years. The scream at the beginning works like coffee XD

Layne's and Jerry's voices blend so well together. That something I absolutely love about Alice

AIC was the most Metal of the Grunge era. And in my opinion, the best.

I think we've all been scared by 'Them Bones's' opening before:

*puts on headphones*
*turns volume all the way up*
*gets ready for song*
*get distrac-*

"AHH!!"

Them bones in my opinion is one of the most powerful hard rock songs of all time.

Just to clarify. Them Bones was written by Jerry Cantrell. Cantrell says its because he has a dark sense of humor but people don't know that even before Layne's demise. Jerry dealt with the death of his grandmother and mother 6 months apart (at that time he lived with his mother and grandmother and was estranged from his dad). When Jerry was kicked out of the house after a fight with his uncle and he never got to say goodbye to his mom when the family took her off life support. Former bandmates of his from his previous band, Diamond Lie, have said that his personality completely changed after the death of his mother. He then went Seattle after and met Layne. The rest is history.

"For those of you who are rock producers, this is the sound of a snare". That's great.

I'm really thankful to GTA San Andreas for including Them Bones on Radio X. If the song wasn't there, I would have never got interested in Alice in Chains' music.

I read in an 91-92 interview from Tony Iommi suggesting that bands like Alice in Chains had the Sabbath doom feel, and that is how I went to buy AiC's first album.

Jerry's tone on this album has to be one of the greatest recorded guitar sounds in history

Who else had 'Dam that River' automatically start inside their head at the end of the song?

Sean Kinney. INCREDIBLY underrated drummer.

When Rick plays the chorus harmonies on piano....so hauntingly beautfiul.

I could listen to them isolated vocal harmonies all day.

Layne's life wasnt wasted. He actually lived the life of 10 men and made some of the most enduring music ever.

Dirt was paradoxically a life saver for me. Made me realize i wasn't the only person on earth going through a dangerous, major, depression

Jerry's guitar on this is absolutely terrifying.
