"We aren't related. I don't know the details and I don't care." Goes to show how much these two love each other. They don't even need to be near each other to show that love. Don't even need to be alive to show that love. Don't even need to be in the same millennium to show that love. They trust each other and that's what matters.

Just the slow realization when Senku was still finding platinum right after he said how long it would take to find even a single grain. Chills
collecter
He spent his whole life planting a tree he would never see grow.
He did everything he could to make sure senku had everything he needed until his last breath. He had that much faith in his son he knew one day he would need rare materitals.
Whoami
Hits different once you realize byakuya's va died
nownothingwillbewrong
Him basically saying "i don't know what happened with my blood-related parents and i don't care, Byakuya is my father" is way too wholesome
timzyt
My man from the past built a village, put his son in a place where he eventually revived, recorded the last song from that era on a glass disc and collected platinum till his final days.
This man carried the whole series.

some people dont realize that the fact the international space station was up there means that in the anime atleast it is canon that rei is up there
santinoespinoza
The way they showed Senku counting at the same time was brutal.
zombieinjeans
This scene hits so hard no matter how many times I rewatch it
Ratciclefan
Byakuya took it to the next level on giving his kid the tools to help in the future.
ikkaku
Their trust in this relationship made me cried so hard😭
deeeeeja
Byakuya did see the space station. There was an AI left behind called Rei. Byakuya promised Rei that he would come back to space (he meant it). Rei kept maintaining the space station for years. Once it was falling into orbit, it created a smaller one and started using meteors to built it back up as well as improving itself. By the time Senku was working in the village Rei had created an android body for itself in the image of a model Byakuya had. She continued waiting for Byakuya and using lights to send a code message down to earth. Chrome was the only one to notice. He manages to plot the message but not knowing how to read Japanese he can’t comprehend the meaning. The message said “ Byakuya, I am still here”

SPOILER
Wish they hadn't ended the manga before they confirmed if Byakuya had made it or not, it's set up for them to find his statue in the graveyard, but sucks we don't get proper resolution, just ending with them digging up the grave.

I’ve always found that line about rebuilding civilization a second time being almost impossible very interesting.
GrumpyMonkeyyy
OMG HE CRIES BECAUSE HE KNOWS REI IS ALIVE IN THE ISS
jojeteelmajete
Damn.. just noticed the SATT. blinking at 1:49 shows that REI must be canon and was saying farewell to byakuya!!!
philsr.
I just noticed that Old Man Kaseki looks like a mix between that fat astronaut and Old Man Byakuya
amitaikatz

awakenmaster

Problem is the platinum wouldnt occur as seperate grains but as an alloy with the gold. You need to dissolve the gold to purify it.
