How to Remove Background using Quick Mask in Gimp | Gimp 2.8.16 | #2

Intro:
Hi Everyone, In this Video I'm Show you how to remove background using Quick Mask in Gimp.

Steps:
First You Need to toggle Quick Mask ON by pressing Shift+Q on your Keyboard. Then Select Eraser Tool and erase the region that you need to extract from the Background. After Finished Erasing Turn OFF the Quick Mask by pressing Shift+Q.

Now Invert the Selection by Pressing Ctrl+I and Del to Erase the Background.

Conclusion:
I am not going to recommend this type of selection and background removal. The best way is using the path tool. I already posted the video tutorial on our Channel. So go and check it out.
That's it.

Note:
Gimp is the perfect Alternative for Photoshop. You can also use this same method in Photoshop as well.

It's a very good tutorial.. But I have find it easy if we use the path finder tool.
First, use the path finder on the wanted image and then press enter or "selection from path".
Next, ctrl+I.
Lastly, go to the image background and press Del.

Nice way of removing background but time consuming and a little difficult to be so accurate with eraser. Just add the GMIC plugin and use background removal option. Very fast if picture has distinct colors.

Hi, i have a question,
i remember with older gimp versions i could add an objet (crop) cut it from one image and past it to another image (the background image)
and then i could erase the object's contours (by simply using the eraser) so i could see the background image
exemple:
i cut an airplane image from a gray sky background and past it to an image that has a nice blue sky background and then erase the airplane's grey sky color around it.

i cant find out how to do it with lates 2.10.20 version. ..

Pressing Shift+Q to turn off the mask removed all the masking I had done and selected nothing. Great, have to do it all over again.
