I personally have bought a cubing course before and have spend quite a lot of money on this hobby since I started cubing because luckily I can. It helps me and I can support some cubers. Not everyone has the means to do that though, especially with higher costs on food, rent and electricity etc. in most parts of the world. And lucky for those who can't afford a course or coaching everything they need to know is widely available for free on the internet. Everyone is happy to help and share their knowledge, which is something I especially love about the cubing community but is not very good for business.

it's anecdotal but in the uk especially recently going to comps can be quite expensive in themselves. venues are extremely expensive to hire so the entrance fee has to be reasonably high, and in many areas our hotels and public transport are also a lot of money. it wouldnt be uncommon for a 2-day uk comp, with one night in a hotel and a train journey of a couple of hours either way to be costing between £120 and £150. its not really something any of us can control but here its also not sustainable for many people to go to comps very regularly

That’s so cool! The school that my friend from china goes to teaches cubing and actually held a comp. I wish US could start doing that more too 😅

Some schools in srilanka has non wca comps too and they train us to go to wca comps
