We unbox the new VMP Essentials copy of Bright Eyes - I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning, a 2005 indie rock classic with folk and Americana influences.

The lacquers of this Vinyl Me, Please release were cut by Cicely Balston at Alchemy Mastering at Air Studios. It's a 180g pressing on "Red Marble" vinyl which looks stunning to say the least.

Songwriter Conor Oberst's songwriting reflects his own experiences and the culture shock of moving from Omaha to New York city and the album stands in stark contrast to their two previous electronic experiment releases of Digital Ash and Digital Urn.

I love the artwork of this album in a collage tapestry style reflecting the New York architecture and folk vibe of the songwriting. Unique to this VMP copy is the listening notes booklet featuring Conor Oberst and Nate Walcott as they tell the documentary-style overview of this album from their perspective.

Lifted or The Story Is In The Soil, should be your next Bright Eyes listen, a little more emotionally raw than the Americana of I’m Wide Awake, but definitely worth a listen.

Got this one and cant wait for next month - getting both Interpol & The Game. I think that the Interpol record may be one of those that goes out of stock for a bit in the future, perhaps the same with The Game?
