Wait...what? I'm a CCU RN and I do not care for only one patient, nor do I brush off a patient's death as "just another day". Neither do any of my coworkers. What a bunch of BS. In the extremely rare occasion that I I DO have only one patient, it's because they're 1 second away from death and if there's any hope of surviving, it rests on my ability to manage complications not minute to minute, but second to second. They're THAT sick. This is not a frivolous undertaking that someone should attempt because they'll have a smaller patient load. It's high stress and incredibly intense, not to mention terrifying.
