Looks good, I like the siding nails over trim nails

I understand that it is what the customer wants, but why cover that beautiful natural wood? Why not use some nice wood to make the rest of the boxes?

I know why they wanted boxes ! Because it looks amazing and you guys did a great job 👏

Yes and inside those boxes are cables for electricity and you could put some spoty lights.

If you use finish guns on hardie it will sag like crazy after only a few months to a year. We fucked up on a bunch of enclosed soffits, we used a 15g on the whole soffit. Ended up halving to redo most of it with siding gun because of the sagging and movement over time with the tiny nails.

Is that yellow pine? And what size rafters are you installing?

Damn man, I’ve talked crap on a few of your videos, but this looks great

Looks good, nice workmanship. No plum rafter tails/no gutters? Only thing I'd have done differently is match the width of ridge beam to rafters and have carry all the way to fascia on both sides but looks like a great job my guy 👍

Siding coil nails have 3x the size head as a 15g finish nailer. Yeah it’s better

Use a collated framing gun with 2&3/8" galvanized ring shank. You can thank me later.

Beautiful job, but I have learned not to sandwich things on outdoor projects, between moisture and insects you can trap a lot of hidden problems

Because those 18 gadgets finish nails don't hold as well and they sometimes have a hard time going into that thick hardy

Nix the J Hardi when using natural wood and sand those dark planer burns, yes sand all the beams and stain not paint.
Pro Tip oil base stains look amazing and are perfect for indoor but with exterior applications the oil will mildew because the mold will feed on the oil. Use quality latex stains and mold issues solved

Any reason you guys use Hardy instead of extira?

Some of the underside gaps look massive. Under ripped? I know Hardie calls for 1/8" gaps for expansion and contraction, but looks near a 1/4".
