it looked like at one point when John was singing "If this is...", you could tell he was about to say "If this is Blake" but then immediately turned it into "If this is Austin"

I 100% disagree with you. John didn't show anyone "how it's done". And neither did Carrie. This WAS, IS and WILL FOREVER be Blake's song. He is the only one who can show others "how it's done". No one else will ever top his vocals on this one.
