Younger ones may not remember it, but new year's eve of 1999 was a scary one for many.
People thought a major apocalypse was going to occur, due to the millenial bug. Funny how we quickly forget.

It didn't happen because of guys like me. I worked at a company that remediated thousands of programs.
What was odd is in 1996 we were developing a new program and the manager wanted just a YY field. We asked - don't you think this will be around in 2000? He said - I'm wasting all that storage on two more digits. He was a follow up customer in 1998.
We knew and we thought about it. As usual, it was managers that made the crisis.

That's funny as hell because my computer rolled over and the digits went 00 and it kept right on fucking working just like everybody elses did

I remember people didn't even go out and celebrate 2000. They were afraid of things not working and stayed home.

Y2038 is never talked about, but we are getting very close and it is far far worse. The world is far more reliant on tech today and the 32 bit timing clock is a hardware limit now not software

yeah that was one of the most exaggerated issue to be ever xd remember looking at the comupter timer to just see the 99 roll to 00 xd, bit like that maya calendar thing something is gonna happen not because the slab was to small to put more dates on it no because the calander ended there xd
