I don’t tolerate aquaphor well, but do fine with CeraVe healing ointment and Vaseline. I suspect the lanolin is the aquaphor ingredient that does not agree with me!

I feel so validated! I have hand dermatitis/eczema and my dermatologist prescribed a couple of ointments and also instructed me to use aquaphor. I told her I have a sensitivity to aquaphor for some reason and she acted so surprised as if it was so unbelievable. I ended up using Vaseline or cera ve healing ointment that worked great for me

I have eczema and psoriasis. There is something in Aquaphor that inflames my skin. It doesn’t happen right away, but once it penetrates into my skin the inflammation and irritation is awful. The doctor probably told her that to play it safe.

My plastic surgeon recommended aquaphor many years ago, and initially I loved it, but it started irritating my lips and I couldn't understand why. I switched to vaseline and forgot about it. Fast forward to Dr. Dray's channel and the lanolin connection. There was my explanation. Lanolin can really do a number on our skin if we're sensitive to it.

When my kid was a baby they had a shockingly horrific outbreak of eczema. The Pediatrician gave triamcinolone and said to top it with nothing but Vaseline. Her exact words were "don't worry Mom, it will be like a magic cream!" Well, she was right! So we are a plain Vaseline household LOL!

(p.s.: steroid only VERY short term!!)

It took me 2 years to figure out that I was allergic to lanolin when using aquaphor. The edges of my lips alone would become inflamed and would take days to go away. I would keep applying aquaphor and threw out so many of my lip balms and lipsticks thinking it was that. Until I stopped aquaphor after watching the YouTube video about a possible sensitivity to lanolin and now only Vaseline works amazing for my lips. Have not had a flare-up in over a year.

Vaseline actually didn’t help my facial eczema much, which was constantly flaring for years. What did help a little was moisturisers with ceramides: that was a game changer. And Tacrolimus/ immunosuppressant tablets

I’m allergic to lanolin and i react to petrolatum even in prescription eczema lotion, i can only find one generic company that I don’t react to, it’s a pain, however i am grateful I can still use it!

I had a horrible eczema flare up around my eyes for years and used aquaphor religiously- it was soothing but I had no idea I’d actually become sensitized to it. My smart primary care doctor told me to switch to Vaseline and the eczema was gone in 2 weeks

Seems like I landed on the opposite side of this sensitivity spectrum. I found out I have a petroleum sensitivity the hard way as a kid - ended up with a rash all over my face and down my neck and arms. To this day, I still can't use any lip or face products with petroleum as an ingredient.
Lanolin has never given me any issues though.

Love lanolin, hydrates my lips really well while Vaseline does nothing for me

I use a 40% xinc petrolatum base ointment for whenever my peri oral dermatitis starts. It clears it inside a week and never gets worse than a very slight 1 cm patch of peeling skin under my lip. My derm actually said it was a brilliant idea to use a high zinc ointment like the one I found, because it only had 4 ingredients. Im not allergic or sensitive to the other 2. They use that ointment for wound healing in their pracsis. Now I use that zinc ointment on any scrape, pimple or irritated skin I have and it just seems like magic.

I use organic cold pressed coconut oil for mine and it does the job. Yes it's a little oily but if you rub it in good and then blot afterward you can't tell.

Petroleum jelly burns my skin. How about that! 😂 Doctors have no answers about that.

I have an allergy to lanolin and mineral oil. So annoying when mineral oil in particular, is known under so many different names. It was so difficult to find products that didn't contain one of these products. It's become easier over the years, but still, some products won't detail all their ingredients when shopping on sites like Amazon

I am grateful aquaphor works for me. Its the only thing that saved my skin during winters.

I have developed eczema on my lips and ive been using petroleum jelly. I also have some kind of itchiness and swelling on my eyelids; itching turns to red, scaly skin. I was using castor oul before and i think its because of that, though i never heard anyone developing allergies from castor oil.
Im testing on one eyelid the petroleum jelly to see if it reacts negatively. I would be so thrilled if nothing bad happens because ive been suffering with this for a while and i havent been able to use any creams or makeup on my eyelids!

I use hydrocortisone cream for my eczema and it works extremely well. I don't get it often. I can the itchy bumps on my fingers and sometimes I get dry itchy red skin around my nose. Eczema cream works great y'all.
