Update… after emails to Staples, text messages with Apple Support, a visit to Staples & discussion with the store manager (who said it was an Apple problem), a visit to the Apple Store (who confirmed 1 pair counterfeit & 1 previously registered) said it was a Staples problem, a return trip to Staples with manager stating her “loss prevention guy” told her not return/refund until she speaks with head office tomorrow, two calls with Apple Support, a post on Instagram with a request for media interest in the story… THEN and only after all that did Staples call to say they will refund our money. As of this moment, the refund has been processed. Two new pairs have been ordered from Apple; the manger there (who was great to deal with) gave us 10% off purchase. However… this remains a HUGE consumer beware issue.
