How to paint tiles

What is Zinser 123 plus, is it a latex enamel paint? And is perma white a primer? I'm sorry but this is my first time painting^^ is it gonna scrape off when I clean the bathroom though? Like scrub tile stains?

My bathroom was in a bad way and I wasn't looking forward to working on it. Having seen this clip I thought I'd give it a go. I went with white paint/Undercoat and have to say I am stunned by the finish. Its superb, hard wearing, and looks so clean. I would suggest that the paint needs to rest for a couple of days before any hard core cleaning etc but I am 100% satisfied with the outcome. My Bathroom is somewhere I enjoy now. Thanks guys.

Thanks for the response! I just cleaned the floor with a 30% bleach-water mix. Will sand it, sweep, then apply meth spirits. After, the plan is to apply zinsser bullseye 1-2-3 plus. When i talked to the saleswoman at hardware store, decided to go with an epoxy-based garage floor paint for the topcoat. Thoughts?

exactly...since i moved in the UK I have seen all the drafty ways to renew stuff in the house... i am still working on MY house to bring it up to a level of likeness.!!!:P I really miss my house in Greece!

Again, thank you so much for the feedback. The Zinsser 123+ claims to adhere to "any topcoat" and appears quite compatible from the description on the can.

You do realize that every time that you touched the wall, you put body oil from your hands on the surface. Also TSP will clean the surface better and you should sand the surface with 150 grit sandpaper. Preparation can sometimes be more important than the paint but, you did choose a good product.

FYI, I just went to ACE Hardware and asked for perma-white the way you say it..."puuhh-mah wuh-eet", and the guy just looked at me like I was crazy. Pffh! Anyway, thanks for the super easy instructions.

Great video, but I'm having problems with adhesion. I cleaned the tiles thoroughly with methylated spirits, let that evapourate, and then lay down a coat of Zinsser 123 plus. After about 4-5 hours, I went to see if it might be ready for a second coat (I know the can says one hour), but I found the paint wasn't holding well and would come off with only a light rub or scratch. I will leave it overnight, but I'm wary about putting on the perma-white over the top as I can't help thinking it will be a waste of paint if the Zinsser 123 isn't adhering properly to the tiles beneath. Do you have suggestions as to what might be going wrong? Thanks!

Hi. Thank you very much for this video! I am planning on painting over my yellow bathroom tiles, making them a darker color. I want to keep the grout lines the same color, so would you recommend taping off the grout or possibly painting the entire area and re-grouting? The grout is old (35 years) but still in good shape.

Hi. Thank you for the information. I am looking to refinish or paint the entire backsplash tiles in my bathrooms. My tiles are ugly with green and brown spots (looks like rust). Will this method work? It will also work for tile countertops in the bathroom too?

nice job! I dont know if u can help me I have blue tiles in my kitchen that im recorating im wondering if one coat of tin tile paint will it do of one coat or you reckon it will need 2 coats as its blue ???

we purchased a home with the tiles in the bathroom painted. We didn't know this, but now after 2 yrs the paint has begun peeling badly. I would like to know if I could paint them again but would imagine I need to remove all the old paint. Any prep before? This was in the shower. Thanks So much!

Hi, I have a really nice white tiled bathroom, however there are horrible brown and orange tiles that go around the centre of the bathroom sort of like a tile dado rail, could I paint just this? It's textured and goes around the bath that has an over head shower.
