The term Daily Driver is an interesting term. I have heard people call their Caterpillar, C2, and other large ships like a Carrack a daily driver. To me the DD is a ship for running around with no specific purpose that requires a different ship. I find that my Cutty Red loaner is my DD most of the time to prevent me from worrying about my thirst and hunger meters. I am sure they will take that functionality away in the future though.

Interesting..and I completely agree with the analysis. The term daily driver is fine in my book, but it's crazy to see some people talk of ships like the Polaris as their daily driver. I think the c1/cutty black/freelancer are all good daily drivers (something not to expensive to operate, but has enough functionality to allow you different game play options). The C8x is a fine daily driver as well.

Beyond being a daily driver like the Cutlass and Freelancer base, I see the Spirit as a great way to support exploration ships in the field. The large well place tractor beam would let you move supplies to the explorer in space while offloading anything they found. And depending on the size of the tractor beam's limit, you might be able to move an STV or similar as well. So it would be well positioned to be a useful fleet support vehicle.

The 400i is one of my favorite daily drivers. Just a lot of fun to fly and decently capable all around

The natural development of the “daily driver” concept is a testament to that fact that a big part of the fun / gameplay of SC is just getting around from A to B.

“Runabout” is also a fun term that works for smaller ships that fit that role.

I won't lie, my favorite class of ships is definitely the daily driver category 😅

It's my main interest in ships, just a place to call home out of which you can do multiple missions and a bit of comfortable flying around and exploring. It's why I'm excited for both the Corsair and the C1!!

My daily driver is generally either the 400i, great ship
Or
The MSR, another great ship
Of course, my work horse is my C2, love the C2, such a joy to fly

I bought the C1 and it’s my first concept ship purchase(I haven’t been playing SC long).Main reason I bought it is that I LOVE the look of the Spirit.I know the.Cutlass and Freelancer both have their fan bases but I’ve never been drawn to their look.

I’m building my hanger with smaller ships that play a big role in me earning AUEC to buy the larger ships that I want every wipe.My Plan for the C1 is to make fast and quick trips hauling Quantium.I was renting Cutlass’s for this purpose(Now I have a loaner)and the C1 gives me the same SCU for efficient trips without risking a lot due to Crashes and 30k’s.Also the C1 is in the right size and has the right features I like for “A Daily Driver”. Love your channel and your SC videos!

That's the healthiest criteria i've heard for concept ship value.

It's interesting how the concept of a daily driver will change in the future when more gameplay loops are added, especially exploration related gameplay. Great commentary!

My daily driver is a 135c. Fast, still stylish.

Also I’m really surprised the bit at the end doesn’t reuse the same sound bite, it was nice hearing your errors.

6:15 I think adding an "E2" as a large passenger transport with the Starlifter hull would make the medium E1 feel like a proper entry level ship, while allowing the Genesis to grow to capital size for long haul transport

My current Daily Driver is a Mercury Star Runner and I love it. But I purchased a Spirit A1 with the thought that one day, I could use a more combat oriented ship for those days when my daily driving involves more fighting! 🙂 Thanks for great content as always Danny!

Thank you as always for your insight. I would buy a C1 as my daily driver if I knew for certain I could fit a ROC in it.

I've pondered the C1 quite a bit lately and have to admit it really does fit the sweet spot for a daily driver. A go anywhere, do anything ship, even if you're just roaming around solo. I would be tempted to have one if I didn't already have a Pisces and a Mercury, ships that avoid my idea of a daily driver label with one being too small and the other too large. They both cover my "roam around to do whatever" needs equally.

My daily driver currently is the Reliant Tana I bought in the game. It needs the bugs to be fixed but for me I just love the way it flies.

My daily driver will forever be the C8X Pisces. Its the perfect shuttle to boot around systems, since the claim time is only a few seconds, and it can be spawned at outposts.

Its interesting considering the value proposition of concept ship sales. You definitely nailed where that value can be found.

The age old argument applies though: Value is subjective, and while your rationale isnt above critique, what you choose to spend money on should be.

Good presentation as always, thank you. I bought the E1 just out of 'rule of cool', it won't be my 'daily driver'. If nothing else I might end up melting it eventually if the taxi gameplay is as far away as the data running!
