Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 1-6 Animation Showcase

Here is a collection of weapons that I animated for Cod: Modern Warfare Seasons 1 through 6. Once again I was tasked with working together with many different departments and extremely talented people to create and animate these weapons to look great and feel fun to use. Each viewmodel animator is responsible for animating/creating attachments/variations like xmags, drum mags, stock versions, Sleight of Hand, etc for each of their respective weapons. The reason I don't show the xmag/stock versions is because the majority of them are only different hand/weapon positions.

To clear the common misconceptions out there and hopefully put this to rest: all viewmodel weapon animations are hand keyed, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄, 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗗 𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘀.

There was a small misconception that viewmodel weapons were mocapped until the animation director Mark Grigsby stated in an interview that they weren't, which lead people to imply that mocap was involved for viewmodel weapons in the past. We've had expert consultants give us references and advice on how they manipulate their firearms, studying and examining fine details to accentuate their actions.

*There was no motion capture recorded, used, edited, or involved for the viewmodel weapons whatsoever.*

I can picture him physically shaking with gritted teeth, profusely sweating, using every micron of restraint in his body to not animate an obscenely stupid meme reload because it'd cost him his job.

Regarding inspects:

At the time, we only had a few weeks to make inspects for nearly all weapons. The viewmodel, MP animation, audio teams as well as many other departments didn't have enough time and man power to do what we had initially wanted, which is why the inspects in pre-season 6 aren't as fancy as the new ones since we had more time to work on them.

I love how you did a lot of reload variants, it makes it feel more real. The sounds and quality of the assets only reinforce your anims, the whole thing is quite amazing, you guys did an amazing work!

I’m so glad that now, sleight of hand is just better, more trained reloads rather than just upping the speed on the same reload.
