Massive problem in the USA, over 100 pilots died flying from the safe but effective vaccine, maybe check before flying with a pilot who has been vaccinated.... just a thought same as heavy vehicle truck drivers imagine what would happen if they have heart attacks on the highway.

My thoughts are with all families related to the passengers. Please keep your heads up, I will pray for all of you.

Before you criticise single engine aircraft you have to remmeber every airline pilot in the world got their start flying this type of aircraft.

I went to the same primary school as these two children, and I am reminded of this tragedy every now and then. I hope their families are doing okay, and that they’ve found some sort of peace. 💕

Very sad. I wouldn't be surprised if the Australian Govt blamed this unfortunate incident on a new variant.

Question: how did they all die if the aircraft was basically intact and they had all been seated properly? Door wouldnt open? Arent they designed to open in an emergency? Or is this another example of governments definition of safety in action.

Simply staggering the number of folk criticising the safety aspect of single engine aircraft. The concerns of these same folk should be aimed squarely at the owners/operators who in many cases cannot afford to employ a Licence Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) so they do the work themselves, illegally.

Never trust a plane with one engine ….. that’s my two cents…

The Redcliffe QLD crash is an aircraft at least 40 years old, however, it appears it had the economic ability to be maintained, but after time these models are discontinued and difficult to maintain because of their secondary value to the origin supplier.
The more recent crash near Mackey QLD of a Jodel is another intrigue HOWEVER, both aircraft show signs of one severe flaw older design aircraft have !
*** They both do not have control surfaces large enough for "non powered manoeuvre" .
It appears that in both cases they have hit the AKA "surface" SFC iin a nose down attitude which is consistent with that form of problem reported, engine failure is mentioned of both aircraft.
While the Jodel aircraft is an amateur built and has an extremely short takeoff landing low wing loading, its elevators and other controls are too small a surface area for non powered control, Too, neither is the other aircraft.

Ditching in the two previous aircraft with wheels fastened or undercarriage down configuration requires keeping the nose up and belly flopping to the water using nose up and wings as an alike to air brakes.
More than this, the high evidence if not proof of nose down strike in both cases is severely implicated as being non powered flight as is suspected of the Leigh Creek SA crash from its similar skid trail with the Mackay crash.

The following PDF document has at least 7 amateur build DIY aircraft that have good control ability after power loss and at low speeds that will assist preventing miscalculation of nose lift response required close to SFC. Their design and strength is superior to most production aircraft.
