I didn’t think that cut was going to work but obviously I was wrong. I been cutting for 40 years and never tried that technique.

Got a slew of 30" Red Oak logs for the 462 to eat today. A sunny, windy and cold day in northeastern Vermont!
Keep safe Ron, have a good one! 💯👍💪

Its truely amazing how many different ways and notches ect. That people cut trees down. I had never seen boring like that until a decade ago, using triple hinges, ect. Really facinating. That looked great, saved all that meat on the tree too. Nice job!

That was a dandy. "Match sawn" and "slick stumped" are what thats called around here

What determines the heavy side? Is it more branches?
I'm genuinely curious

Because the tree falls in the direction of the lean, what do you do if there is a stump, or boulder, or a ridge/draw in the lay that would cause damage to log? Do you only cut veneer logs that have open clear shots? I'm genuinely curious.

As long as you're out in the woods with nothing else to drop the tree on And plenty of room for you to run

Damn that makes allot of sense!! I'm sure they'll be some safety freaks upset that "there's no hinge wood to control it"🤦

I got one exactly like that tree, I'm hoping the final results end the same😊

One of these days I’m going to get brave and try “felling over the saw”

Basically cut from the lean/lay clear thru out the back while reaming

Funny how many people want to criticize, it makes perfect sense when cutting high dollar veneer out in the woods! And it ain't like its your first rodeo!^

How do you like the new 592 Husqvarna?

This is the way we cut all high value trees. A wedge wastes a few feet of the most valuable portion of the tree.

The only way, for high value wood, carry on !

Also many call it slick stumping.
Nice job.

Notch and hinge is the safe way. I failed to see how you controlled the direction of fall.
