The West did think that the Russian economy was a bloated speculative mess like in the US and Europe, with all their analysts they missed the fact that Russia has a real economy established quantifiable goods (agriculture, mining, oil, weaponry...). They did try hard to bring it to its knees, but all they did is shooting themselves in the foot. Arrogance is the biggest weakness in wars.

Russia has really done amazingly well . When you think of the breadlines of the 1990's, the economic recovery & investment in their own country has been amazing. Great leadership. I can't see that even happening in a western country.

Yes. There have been YT vids from Russian citizens showing how many foreign brands of food items left Russia but only to be replaced by Russian-made items, e.g. soft drinks, fast-food restaurants, etc.
