BLEACHERS - GONE NOW | ALBUM REVIEW

►As always, I seem to have the uncommon opinion. Really enjoying this new Bleachers record, even more than the first (which I was not a huge fan of) Here's my review of "Gone Now" by the indie pop project of Jack Antonoff, Bleachers.

Honestly, this album is the best thing I've heard all year. I adore Strange Desire, even though it is a slower album.
I instantly fell in love with this release from the moment I heard it. There isn't a single song here I dislike. I love how the production gets more interesting and out there. I also really love the themes of this album. The reprises here work even better than they did on Strange Desire, and the melodies are just fantastic. And even though I don't see an 'I Wanna Get Better' amazing song on here (although Everybody Lost Somebody comes very close), it does have more fantastic choruses. Synth pop is pretty much my favorite genre of music, so it was gonna be an easy sell, but I still think this is fantastic. Honestly this is like a 9/10 for me, I loved it that much.

I liked Strange Desire much better than Gone Now but I still love Bleachers. Personally I think Jack Antonoff is one of the most creative people in music right now, he does great production. Also on another note, I met him briefly and he is very down to earth and loves his fans. I'll actually be seeing Bleachers later this month.

i'm trying to get into more indie music, I usually drift away so easily listening to most of it but some of the tracks from this album are really growing on me, so I'm good :D

Unlike most people commenting here, I think Gone Now is so amazing and I think it’s better than Strange Desire. If you watch Jack’s explanations of each song, you’ll fall in love further with this album. Also, I love how the songs are connected to each other lyrically and through the voices in the album

This album is great from beginning to end. Micky Mantle reprise, goodmorning, and foreign girls are great.

I think that this is an awesome album. Definitely s different take from strange desires. I love both albums though. They are so different but so good. And listening to some of those lyrics in reference to his sister's passing can be heart breaking

I like Strange Desire a lot better, but I've only listened to Gone Now once, so I'll have to listen to it again to see if it grows on me.

If you didn't get on well with this album the first listen through, look up Jacks' instagram and read about what this album is written about. He's a really interesting person with a unique history and listening to it with those ears will make you love it.

I felt like because of the callbacks and call-forwards, most of the songs that aren't singles end up becoming a reprise and make the album feel like it has less than it does. I would have preferred if he released less singles, maybe limiting it to 2 or 3. Releasing 4 singles and then having a ton of the songs being reprises made it tedious like you said. It was still a good track and felt less like throwaway pop than Strange Desires did.

Great review but I personally feel that this album has a lot more to it. Not to dock you at all. I just feel it has more layers than you pointed out. A full review of my thoughts are on my channel!
