What You Need To Know About Folic Acid

Folic acid is something that we all need to know about. Many countries have mandatory “fortification” programs and most of us ingest it without too much thought. It has been presented by the World Health Organisation and their associates as a “win-win” for the public due to the purported prevention of neural tube defects such as spina bifida.

This video investigates some of the pivotal papers that were used as the evidence for folic acid supplementation for pregnant women and then entire populations. We examine what the real world data shows and why some of the numbers do not stack up.

Additionally, the folic acid they are putting in these products is not the same as the folate that has been depleted from our food in the first place. What are the implications of constant exposure to synthetic compounds and what can you do to remedy the situation today?

My daughter suffers terrible migraines when she accidentally eats fortified/enriched foods. I mail her organic unfortified flour from a farm here in Canada. She lives in Mexico. Even unbleached organic flour is fortified here as well. It is all criminal. They do not want us well but sick. The elite want a 30% reduction in world wide population and poisoning us is how they will achieve it. Thanks for this video. Praying people of child bearing age see this and also those with health issues.

Bravo!! Dr. Bailey. Superb presentation. This "switcheroo" with folate and folic acid reminds me of what was done in 1967 when all commercially baked good required iodine. Bing.... they changed it out, for bromine....which happens to be attracted to the iodine receptors...blocking absorption of iodine. Oh, those health keep a close eye on them at all times!

The day NZ announced they where adding this to our bread is the day I stopped buying any bread or baked goods. Been baking all my own since. Now I need to make sure I source good, organic, unbleached flour!!

Important to note the commonality of the mthfr gene mutations and the dangers of consuming folic acid.

Thanks Dr S…to sum up, you’re saying virtually all folic acid supplements are synthetic and to avoid those. Are there any at all that are sourced from actual food? Sounds like, if so, there’s probably a lot of processing that goes into making it.
Ultimately, you’re right on. Ignorance in farming has wreaked havoc on soils and ruined their ecosystem. Add to that the poison dumped on crops and it’s obvious where a species is headed with that mindset.
But there’s hope. More and more organic farming is happening and awareness is growing. We may see a change in our lifetime 🙏

My daughter works within council care - she told me due to a certain birth defect, they are now looking very closely at Folic acid as the cause - in the UK folic acid is added to bread and flour.

HI Dr Sam, I'm in NZ too. I'm a label reader and have just noticed on one of our supermarket branded flours have added folic acid in the ingredient list.
Thanks for the info and the links.

In Australia the law is just around wheat flour for bread production needing to have folic acid, so gluten free bread doesn't legally require it to be added.

I make my own bread at home and on rare occasion of getting a burger at a restaurant I go for gluten free bread.

I suspect a lot of gluten intolerant people may just be intolerant to the folic acid

I understand that Folic acid should really be Folinic acid and Niacin should really be Nicotinic acid. So they are adding the wrong thing. They use niacinamide which is not Nicotinic acid. So whatever they are adding is possibly antagonistic to Folinic acid and Nicotinic acid.

I remember Spina bifida was heavily associated to Chemical Sprays, like IWD's 245t and 24d, the two mixed made agent orange,

Great video, thank you! Just started down the vitamin / supplement rabbit hole and have stopped taking them at least for the time being. Seems like the same folks and processes are at play, figures…

When I was pregnant with my son I made sure I had a good intake of vitamins and minerals, one of these was folic acid. My son had a small hole on his coccyx which ny mother-in-law informed me was hereditary on her side of the family as her eldest son also had this. She put it down to having a good intake of folic acid.

In US research organic pasture raised eggs were found to have up to 21 times the folic acid of factory farmed eggs (Polyface farm).

That’s an estimate of 25 micrograms vs 525 micrograms. For two eggs, 50 micrograms vs 1, 050.

Less assume that’s best case scenario, and instead estimate the comparator at 10 times. For two eggs then that would be 50 micrograms vs 500 micrograms. That’s moving the chickens daily using a chicken tractor—a chicken tractor is a chicken cage someone pulls along the ground over a new section of pasture everyday that was grazed by ruminants some days prior.

“You are what you eat” is an exaggeration, but that does seem like a stark contrast. You’d need twenty factory farmed eggs to have the same folic acid as two of these other eggs. Ask your local Mennonite, Amish or regenerative farmer if they have pasture raised chicken eggs.

Note: the name chicken tractor is somewhat misleading as they typically do not involve what you would consider to be a tractor. It’s just a cage, and they sometimes have a couple of wheels.
