So, I've watched the end of the video now, and listened to Liz's rant of the day. I fricking love you!!! Thank you! I want clear and accurate information, including the negatives, so that I can make an informed decision. Then the outcome of that decision lies squarely on me. I'm an adult. I will be accountable for my decisions and I will take responsibility for them. Am I currently growing out a damaged toenail from incorrect efiling? Yes, which is why I haven't used the efile since and is also why I'm watching this video now. I've watched lots of others, but I wanted to learn the differences between the bits. I shall now practice on myself, and eggshells (viewer suggestion below) before I unleash my skills on anyone else. A million times, thank you. Xxx

this tutorial changed my life, seriously. I've ALWAYS had overgrown cuticles, which turned into hangnails and a hack job after taking a nipper to them. after watching this, I carefully took my drill (I'm a glass engraver) and cleaned them out. I'm not exaggerating when I say that my cuticles have NEVER looked better! now I'm going on Day 3 (which is a long time for me) of "so fresh and so clean" cuticles and I'm absolutely amazed! THANK YOU x 1000 for so freely sharing your knowledge! <3

Good practice for pressure control on the natural nail is using eggs and making sure you don't crack them before you practice on anyone.
Edit: Hardboil the egg first to avoid a mess!

Omg you nailed it! Accountability. Tools don’t hurt people, people hurt people. So few are recognizing this basic truth nowadays!

Thank you for yet another awesome video!

How refreshing to hear a young person so courageously stand up for the principle of accountability. Bravo!
I've been a cosmetologist for 30 years. Thank goodness for e-filing!!
I do nails on women of all ages and when you consider the sensitivity of those with arthritis and the delicate skin of my 90 plus year olds, an e- file is the only way to take care of anyone's cuticle needs. -Don't need to clamp down on their tender joints in order to use a standard sanding file, and on skin that's as delicate as flower petals there is nothing better than an e-file with a polishing bit. It's all you need in that tiny, specific area.
In my experience an e-file is not only more comfortable for everyone it is safer.
Let me say that again, ..e-filing is safer for cuticle and pedicure work!!
These videos are great education!
Nail techs be brave and try this technique, and never slice a cuticle open again with a ginormous hand file that is covered in sand and will never be as controlled as an e-file bit!
Right!?

Thanks for sharing and educating. I’m not a nail tech just do my own nails and you are my go to. I know i will be safe with you Liz thanks. Keep doing what you do. It’s appreciated by all who are accountable, responsible and mature

Liz you are AMAZING!! Knowledge is power! I have never seen an educator so responsible so kind, so informative and so empowering. In the beauty industry, we have to take ownership of our work. This is across the board. We must think every time we do a service that we are leaving a business card with our client. That service is our business card. It is the best form of revenue you can get. Liz, you are one in a million!

Rant or not, your philosophy is right on! It’s so refreshing to hear a young person talk about responsibility, instead of a pity party for oneself! Keep it up Liz!

You have no idea how helpful this video was. I have such a problem with cuticles that were seriously ruining my life. No matter how careful I was the paint on the cuticles looked just terrible. I love the lady who does my nails. She is very sweet and kind but unfortunately language is difficult for us. I have suppressed immunity and get infections at the drop of a hat in spite of how careful I am. Now, with the virus I am totally on my own to figure this out for the foreseeable future. I love how you don't dumb this down, it shows respect for your audience. People do better when they know why they are doing or not doing something. You are amazing. Of course, in time, I will go back to the salon, but this foundational knowledge will make me a better client.

Thank you, Liz for all the detailed information. I do my own nails at home, and I've really learned a lot about bits and other "nail tech secrets" from you. I have several bits that I had no idea what they were for. I used to have my nails done, but after some disastrous fungal infections and nail plates that were chewed down to my bleeding flesh by techs aggressively using bits, I had to give up on salons. I'm not great at it yet, but with your and Suzi's advice, I'm getting better and better! Your videos are the best!

You have wonderful tips for professional and non-professional people who are interested in doing nails in or out of salon . I appreciate that. You seem to hit and include all finger types so well done.

It is important to put this information on YouTube and educate people on a product that anyone can purchase without being educated on how to use it. Thank You for making videos like this for the safety of us all that have an interest in DIY e-filing manicures.

I believe a machine manicure lengthens your career! There are certain folk/individuals who benefit from "debunking" the validity of this style of working. It's the most effective before applying any coating because it's dry and highly efficient! It's lit 🔥!

Wow! What an incredibly informative and educational video! I’ve recently transitioned to using an e-file for my personal home manicures and I’ve made more mistakes than I care to admit because I simply was not educated enough to perform the technique properly in order not to damage my nails. Thankfully it wasn’t anything that couldn’t be reversed with a little time, care and more education. I am so very grateful to you for sharing this extensive and detailed information! It has helped me to be more aware of what I’m actually doing to the nail bed as I work and how to use my e-file safety and effectively. Thank you so much!!

Thank you for this. As a cosmo/lash tech, I am just getting into the skill of nails. I appreciate your tech/teaching skills, and for you giving accountability back to me.
In the 1950’s car owner manuals showed how to adjust valves. Now they tell you not to put fluids in the wrong hole. Oy!

I love this. I appreciate your attitude. I will not go to a salon, I only do my nails at home, but my cuticles are always neglected.( I use a chain saw and a Dremel -like efile but LARGER). More information is better. I always receive compiments on my hands, but I will be improving this aspect. I love being independent. I think I fall into the delicate MY name is Liz.
