In partnership with the art collective MSCHF, singer Lil Nas X created a pair of pricey - $1,018 (£740) - and controversial trainers.

MSCHF only produced 666 pairs of the shoes, which include a drop of human blood in the soles. Made using modified Nike Air Max 97s, they sold out in less than a minute.

The BBC spoke to two people about why they had bought these shoes.

There's nothing revolutionary about selling an expensive pair of shoes.

Why cant they re-customise no name brand shoes or a blank pair of trainers??? They don’t because they wanna use a brand name to fetch more money on their tacky designed re-customs.

Im just concerned about the fact that they taught selling a drop of human blood with a shoes was ok.
Did no one realise it was stupid.

If you ever fall in them, I guess you could say you fell from grace. I'm surprised they didn't make the price $666.00. 🤷

1:24 - What a load of garbage. Nike is suing because they didn't remove the Nike branding from the shoes when they customized them, thus implying that it's an official Nike product. Remove the swoosh and Nike label from it and you won't have a problem. Duh. 🙄

What does his race and sexuality have to do with the shoe? There's no correlation so there's no benefit in mentioning it. People really want to find any excuse possible to justify this weird behaviour

So, if we call them gay then they're offended.
If they use religion in something in their products, here will be sneaker, they expect us not to be offended.

What about... What about not provoking one another?

imagine selling $ 50 shoes made in asian sweatshops for $ 1000 and making them limited. sounds a lot like they took cues from watchmaking, except for the craftsmanship and quality. the fact that there's a market for this implies that people will buy and fall for anything.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
