Is Gm’s Auto Butler Paint Protection Service Worth Buying?

Welcome back to the channel! In this video, I discuss whether the Auto Butler service GM offers is worth it. This is a service where the car is washed and detailed inside and out, then a paint protection “wax like” product is applied. Overall, the car will look ceramic coated afterwards. GM will offer it, or try to include it in an extended warranty package. But is it worth it in the long run?
Added extra in this video! I got to see and sit in a 2023 C8 Z06!

I got tricked into it. The dealer puts it on all their new cars the first time then asks if you want to keep the warranty. We were told "I won't charge you since it's already on there.".. then it was added anyway. So when I got the first green card, I took the Jeep back in. I'd accumulated a few minor scratches and was told at the time of purchase that they'd be removed when the vehicle was 'buffed' prior to application. It came out looking exactly like it went in. Scratches and all. They told me it would take 3 hours.. I was out in less than an hour. Makes me think they didn't do anything at all to my Jeep. It's over an hour one way to go back to that dealer to have it reapplied.. I think I'll pass. I'm not seeing any benefit honestly. It doesn't even keep bird droppings from sticking like it claims to do.

Tire shine doesn't fling if you keep the needle below 25 (lol).

Don't ever buy anything from a car dealership when purchasing a new car. Except Gap Insurance if you are financing the car!!! For instance. My daughter's brand new ride supposedly had "Auto Butler" ceramic paint protection applied at a cost of $2000. Daddy taught her well. She demanded that the dealer remove the $2000 charge that Baytown Hundai added to the cost of the vehichle. A day later, I was inspecting her new Palisade in our garage for defects. I found what first looked like a paralell scratch in the paint. Nope, it was adhesive residue from the plastic shipping film the manufacturer applied. Had a professional actually applied a ceramic coating to the automobile. There would be absolutely no residue on the painted surface. As the prep process would have removed it prior to the ceramic application. Her car even had the "Auto Butler" decal applied to the inner windshield. As if to assure the would be victim that the suv was protected by the invisible ceramic protectant. Buyer be warned! If you want Ceramic protection. Take your ride to a trusted professional with an outstanding reputation. Or regularly apply Turtle wax hybrid solutions ceramic wax every couple of months as I do. As it is the best quick wax solution available right now.

Should I ask my dealership about the auto butler system service?

It's currently (2023-08-9) $695/year for 2 visits. Total Rip Off!

I had to come back and edit - You could get the car lifted, wheels removed, undercarriage fully detailed, under-hood detailed, full ceramic coated (and often warrantied) for FAR less than this rip off service.

Double come-back-and-edit: You could also get a membership at Ottos or some other drive through car washing service and wash it hands free for a year, including a balls-out detailing, for less that Auto Butler.

It's a waste of money. Dirt and water stick worse to my truck with Auto Butler than vehicles with just normal wax.
