One of the most important tips that not a lot of people will tell you: START SMALL!

Want to make the next World of Warcraft? Hell yeah! But maybe don't start with that. Instead build a fun, little game introducing characters and themes from the universe of your future incredible MMORPG! Want to make a BR game that dethrones Fortnite?! If ANYONE can, it's you! But maybe don't start with that. Make a small mulitplayer game using the mechanics and weapons you wish to use before making a huge map with a bunch of different weapons, vehicles, just etc. junk. Wanting to make a story-driven adventure, one that invokes tears, angers, and happiness? I'm excited to experience such a journey! But it doesn't need to be 40 hours long, with dozens of characters having in-depth backstories.

Write out everything your game needs to be complete, and follow your design. Add and change things here and there, but stick to your design for the most part. Don't fall into the trap of, "You know what else would be cool? This!", because you'll never finish your game. Start small, finish a few projects before taking a big bite, understand that you have what it takes, and then make that industry crushing game!

You can't be born with a skill. You have to learn it. Your conditioning that makes you you can determine what your skills are, but you can always learn new skills and better them

I love watching people combine simple graphics into beautiful artwork. Makes me believe it's not that hard. Then I waste hours only to get to the conclusion that you need talent anyway and I can't draw anything decent...

Followed the tips but halfway through I became an AAA devolper. At what step did I fail?

Would it interest you to make a video about asset management of all the illustrations you are making for a game? I only make fairly small games with just a handful of sprites, i don't even need to bother thinking about asset management. But i'm always amazed by how developers handle bigger project like this, the asset library must be enormous? Like what fileformats works best and what about compression? Naming schemes and folder structures? Tradeoffs between interact-ability and static sprites (interaction often means larger file-sizes, more sprites, more work etc)? Repeatability (you touched on that in this video with the candles)?, Did you set a limit to how big your games can be, ie how big the binaries for Pinstripe and Once Upon a Coma can be and what if you go over that limit, would you go back and remove assets, simplify them or try to compress them more? etc etc etc. Sure, this is not a sexy topic but it fascinates me and there should be some tips and tricks to talk about i guess.

Anyways great video, you deserve way more views and subscribers 👍

I like how you're not using YouTube ads and instead advertising your own products

!!! I love Pinstripe!! I recommend it to anyone who loves puzzle and story-based games, but what I really admire is your amazing ability to create such a beautifully bizarre world with just-as fascinating characters. I want to learn how to make my own indie game so I was so ecstatic to see you have a video on this. Thank you for your work!!! 🙏

My rule of thumb for game development: The second 80% are the hardest.

I have been watching your videos for 3 or 2 weeks now but I did learn a lot of generic game dev, Thing I wish to learn before I start my game project. Why I didn't watch your video right before I start making my game but now I will apply everything learns from you to my game for sure.
