I'm in the "been driving for decades"/"twilight years" category but I love my Model 3 Performance. Makes me smile every day.

It's easy to open the glove box with voice command. "Open Glovebox"

I’ve been a BMW owner for over 20 years owning multiple M cars and honestly my new 2024 Model 3 Performance is the best car I’ve owned. Its one of the few things I look forward to driving ever chance I get. I never thought I’d say that being a BMW lover but you just have to drive one to change your mind. Hate them all you want but it will change your perspective on EV cars

Strange verdict, my mom really do not like driving. It has always been too cumbersome for her, after getting a Tesla Model 3 she says that she never had an easier car to drive. There is no gears to think about, starts when you press the brakes and everything else is automatic... she is almost 60 and have an iPhone 6 and no personal e-mail.

Yes, Teslas are also for non-tech people because the software is so intuitive and most menus are for the geeks anyways.

I'm riding a Kawasaki Z900 that can do 0 - 100 in under 3.5 sec. Yet, I keep looking forward to drive my wife's RWD Model Y. I know it's the slowest Tesla but it feels so quick. It's so cheap to run, easy and natural to drive once you get used to the regen force.
Owning a Tesla is like when I switched from a Nokia/Sony Erickson to a smart phone. It took a couple of weeks to get used to but once you have a smart phone, you can't go back.

One mistake: The Performance does not come with Michelin tyres. They are Pirelli P-Zero.

High degree of tech literacy needed? You must really struggle with tech. My wife is absolutely non-tech and not a car person and she loves our Tesla and very comfortable with using it.

I road tested 2024 Model 3 for 1 hour in July 2023. The gear-shift on tablet was not a problem for me. I made sure to park it and do a 3-point turn in a narrow side street, it is really a non-issue. Operating tablet in general was also easy. The absence of indicator stalks was much harder to adjust given all other mass produced cars use stalks. After 1 hour I still felt uncomfortable pushing those steering-wheel indicator buttons because they are located on the same side. If the buttons were located one-button per side, right side button for right turn, left side button for left turn then it would have been more ergonomic to use. The lack of heads-up-display is also disappointing in a car of price $70K-$85K drive-away. My wife drives a $38K drive-away Toyota Yaris ZR Hybrid, and it has a heads-up-display. For $70K-85K drive-away price I expect all Tesla Model 3 and Model Y models to have a heads-up-display as standard feature. The rear-tablet for the rear seat passengers is an unnecessary gimmick, if Tesla wanted to save on car manufacturing costs they could remove it and instead replace it with a HUD and add the indicator stalks for the driver.

You don't need to be tech savvy to drive a Tesla. They're actually easier to drive because so much is automated.

"tesla model 3 isnt the perfect car, not by a LONG shot, but then again what is? mind boggling performance and charm at this price point, with tech laiden all electric package that is efficient".
LOL... "one of the best electric cars today." I think 'long shot' is a massive stretch. the car is fast, cheap, the safest, the cheapest to run. wtf bro lol

If shifting using the touchscreen bothers you, you can also shift by pressing P, R, N or D located on the overhead console. I actually found this easier than using a stick shifter!

Thanks, good video, 3.1sec is amazing

I recognise that car 😄 (and miss it every day since!)

Great review, the only thing you missed is how Tesla has removed the Brembo brakes and significantly downgraded them in this year's model. Going from 6 piston to 2 piston is huge.

Weird you find the missing shifter hard to overcome and missing stokes not a problem. To use your 'when was the last time you opened glove box' logic. When was the last time you shifted while driving!! Compared to how often do you indicate when driving. And forget about indicating in a roundabout or in parking lot when you are turning quickly in either direction.

You referred to iPhones several times in this video yet Tesla doesn't support Apple Carplay

"461 kws quoted online" huh? try doing a little research.

I question your review, not because something you said about the Tesla, but because what you said about the Toyota BZ4X.

That is one of the worst cars of any type you can buy, and by no means is it "comfortable". 220 miles of range and, bigger, slower, and heavier with a bigger battery and slower charging speeds means besides stopping all the time, you charge twice as long. It's full of clutter, and Apple car play wouldn't connect for me at all. The onboard nav is atrocious, the speakers are tin-y with no base or punch, and please try a sharp corner, because the body roll is borderline scary. I don't know how they failed cornering with a CG low like that.
Also... frunk? Why can't they figure that out. It has been an expected feature of and EV since the 2012 Model S.

The question is why don't we get the same battery as the US ??
We pay way to much for this model compared to just about every else in the world and get an inferior battery for the inflated cost.
