Hi, Matthew! Somehow I missed this post and am just seeing it now. I've enjoyed your chronological journey throughout Bob's work. It's an intimidating ouvre simply because of the volume but, thanks to you, I may also take the plunge (LOL). I was surprised you didn't mention The Man in Me from New Morning which is one of my favorite Dylan tunes and very much piano-based. It acquired a great deal of exposure as the title song for The Big Lebowski. Please keep up the good work. I always enjoy your videos. Warm regards. 😊

Really enjoyed this review, I had sort of slowed down on my listening when I hit the 70s so I plan to listen again to Self Portrait and New Morning this weekend to get a refresh and hopefully keep going! Take care.

Thanks Matthew for posting this. Dylan is great, however the early 70th are not my favorite Dylan period. I prefer the 60th electric stuff and the mid-70th albums. His real masterpiece is Blod on the Tracks and the bootleg series version More Blood, More Tracks. I purchased the complete album collection Vol. 1 with all albums until Tempest for a very good price a couple of years ago. So it is good to have them all in this beautiful box and from time to time I try to discover new areas I am not so familiar with.

The Witmark Demos are generally regarded as one of the weaker Bootleg sets. John Brown is great on it though. Self Portrait is by no means terrible, it really is a fun and diverse listen. New Morning is top notch, Day of the Locust is incredible, as is New Morning as a track. Glad you're continuing this journey!
