Ducati Panigale V2 - a punchy trackday twin VS the Ducati Supersport! @Ducatistore

When you stop being a passenger on the V2 and earn your corners, it rewards you with juicy drive on the throttle, a few pops from the pipe and perfectly positioned handling to drop into the next set of twisties. But is it too track orientated and would a Ducati Supersport be more versatile? Watch the video to find out!

Thank you to @Ducatistore for letting me use the V2!

Probably the best V2 review I’ve seen so far. And I’ve been watching them for months lol

Thanks for another great review.

V2 definitely best on track. Fun for a short road blast but ultimately the Supersport remains the better road bike for a Sunday ride of 200 miles or a tour of Europe.

Like lots of Ducati riders I feel Ducati has an obvious gap in the range. I was hoping 2021 would include a 1200 Supersport.

Imagine those comfy ergos and head turning looks with just a few more Italian horses. A 1200 should be good for 160hp and 90lb ft and it could deliver it at 9, 250 and 7, 500 respectively. That’s the do it all bike we really want.

Thanks again Laura, your enthusiasm for all thing motorcycling is infectious.

As a road rider (and never track), this is the best review of the V2 I've seen, so many thanks!
I really appreciated the comparison with the Supersport, which was really really helpful. I've been looking at getting an SS but of course the lure of a Panigale V2 is always in the back of the mind... but it's reassuring to see that you think the SS is more practical and simply better for the road. Was also interested to hear that the V2 is not massively hotter that the Supersport. I had always assumed it was because of the exhaust routing.
I really hope Ducati Manchester can loan you new Supersport 950 S when they get them in stock! Would enjoy watching that test!

Thank You for this insights, Lara!
Your review is superb in presentation, and absolut reliable -
I can state this, because my experience, jumping off my SuperSport S onto a V2 MiniPani, was 1:1 to Yours!
Thank you for sharing real experience, and excaping the normal marketing-blabla.

This was a true

Another well delivered review. Love your genuine enthusiasm as well. Same reason I’d go for the SS versus the V2, given their respect torque curves and that I would be doing mostly touring.

My stock can is never used, sits in the attic. The Akrapovic for the V2 is absolutely bonkers, once you blip to first gear and roll off it will also consistently pop and crackle. Did I mention the flames? (Yes, that is with the map that comes with the pipes) -dB killers still in.

Thanks for the review. I wonder if Panigale V4 have same visible wiring on the side. 🤔

You are correct. The Supersport is more like Ducs of old. They sound great and provide linear power delivery. The new ones are oversquare and rev to the moon (better on the track), but don't have much go in the rpm bands people tend to use them on the street.
Forget the torque figure. Just drop a graph of the power of the SS over the V2 and you'll immediately see the difference.
SS is the superior road bike and it looks damn good, but that V2 is rolling sex.

Thanks for the helpful review! I'm considering the V2 for Sunday blasts in the Swiss mountains (I'm very privileged to live here) and the odd trackday. I was put off the Supersport by comments that the stock exhaust scrapes the ground on track, I couldn't change it to the lovely high Akras due to strict Swiss laws :-(

Wonderful, well rounded review. I'm currently tossing up between the V2 or Supersport and find this content really useful. The main reason I haven't picked the Supersport is the arse. I mean seriously! They need to upgrade that to look like the Panigale! The heat and the mirror vibration really annoy me too but at least they can be rectified ... heat shield and Mirror blanks with integrated indicators :) Subscribed!
