In U.S. history, there's been four candidates who won the popular vote but lost the electoral college and therefore, the presidential election. Research shows Americans are divided on whether we should keep the electoral college or not.

Prof. Daman Cann with Utah State University joined ABC4's Rosie Nguyen to explain the electoral college's history, how it works, and what it would take for the country to abolish the process. Lauren Simpson with Alliance for a Better Utah joined the conversation to talk about arguments against the electoral college and Michelle Quist, Columnist for the Salt Lake Tribune talked about reasons to support it.
