Russia cannot be allowed to redraw the lines of Europe. Ukraine is important because the Baltics and East Europe would be next. European countries should be doing more but Germany and France are led by woke, weak leaders who are scared. Only France, Scandinavia and UK in Europe have any real modern fighting and defence capability systems. This is important to USA because a bigger, larger, stronger Russia who thinks it can roll across Europe is a bigger headache for USA. You would also see an emboldened relationship between Russia and China carving up areas of the world. Finally, BOTH USA and UK signed a treaty (The Budapest memorandum) to protect Ukrainian sovereignty.
