I’m 54 and I must say, she is representing the over 50 club quite well. ❤️

This is a much needed conversation. So glad that it is happening. I am a 60 year old woman who is post-menopausal, but when I first started menopause, not one of my Doctors, male or female, related any of my symptoms to menopause. I thought I was pregnant, that my heart was going bad, and that I had mental issues. It wasn’t until a church member, friend of mine, who was also a nurse, gave me an article which listed about 37 symptoms of menopause, that I knew and understood what was happening to me, because I was experiencing over half of them. Like you all said, no one was talking about it. The only symptom I knew about menopause was hot flashes. So at our women’s health fair at my church, I had another nurse friend to come and enlighten us on the subject. Halle is so right. We have to make it ok to talk about. This is answered prayer 🙏🏾!

I agree! I went into menopause at 40 yrs old. It took 3 years and 5 doctors to acknowledge what I had been researching. Then, I got some very expensive hormone replacement treatment that didn't help. I had cancer when I was young, and it depleted my estrogen. We need support in this and many issues like this for women.

I applaud Halle for using her platform to change the conversation around menopause. Ultimately, the issue is how we view aging in this society.
Youth is celebrated and the elders are discarded. Older women are constantly trying to look younger rather than focusing on aging gracefully. Saying someone is going through menopause implies that they are “old” which no one wants to be. That’s the issue.

No one talked to me about menopause.
I was in tears when it came I was not prepared in my 40’s . I thought it would be later on. All that I know now I share with any woman. They always looked shocked by my blunt discussion but they ask questions and learn.

I love love this! So very true! As a 51 year old black woman who’s having the symptoms still after getting a hormone test to see if I’m premenopausal and them coming back as normal, it’s still going to happen. The dry eyes symptom got me. Never knew this.

Nothing wrong with menopause to me. It's natural. Great job Halle.

39 year old here 🙋🏽‍♀️ and pushing into this convo as there are SO MANY changes I’m experiencing and trying to navigate on my own… Undergrad nor grad school prepared me, my career didn’t prepare me, motherhood didn’t prepare me, regular womanly check ups have NOT prepared me… it feels like I’m alone on this journey and the more I speak up to my healthcare professionals, the more I feel bypassed and symptoms not heard… absolutely makes you want to give up and say, “oh well”! Thankful to come across this video! Because you just can’t settle for “oh well”… you have to keep advocating!

I’m 60 now but when I was about 52, I was having some hot flashes at times but what scared me more than anything was the foggy brain. I actually thought I had some early dementia happening. I used to be great at remembering phones numbers and people’s names. Working at a large hospital, my coworkers would come to me so I could give them a certain department’s phone number right off the top of my head but suddenly I was unable to do this. New coworkers would get hired and I would forget their names. I had to ask my coworker who was already in menopause about this foggy brain stuff and she said oh yes that, you’ll be alright after 18mos or so. And she was right, I can now think much clearer and much better memory but it was a scary and embarrassing time for me.

Post menopause is the best time in my life. I don't feel like, or act like, a piece of cheesecake. I don't care about the past because it's over. At 60, I finally own myself and am loving it. I have a passion for now; the year and now. Yay for Hally Berry; I'm such a fan.

What a fantastic interview and topic! I’m on board and plan on working hard to eradicate the stigma attached to menopause and women aging. ❤❤❤❤

Every cell in our female bodies has estrogen receptors. Once that hormone level is off (too high/ too low) ANYTHING can go haywire. Just about anything wrong with us comes back to our hormones. Thank you so much for this Halle!!!

I had fibroid embolization surgery to remove my fibroids at age 47. About 3 weeks later I started getting these sudden hot flashes nightly. My husband called as menopause before I even realized what they were….. my doctor never informed me that the procedure could but me into full blown menopause!
